Blueberry Banana Smoothie

This blueberry banana smoothie is so simple to make and it really satisfies your sweet tooth without adding any extra sugar. This is my late-night splurge when I'm trying to stay away from the ice-cream. It lets me snack and get a boost of energy before bed (important when you have twins who don't believe in sleep) and it satisfies my craving for something sweet. This smoothie has no added sugar and it's packed full of great nutrients from the bananas and blueberries.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups frozen blueberries (more if you'd like a thicker smoothie)
  • 3 cups milk or milk substitute. I usually use regular 2% milk in this but I've tried it with coconut milk and that's pretty tasty too.
  • 1-2 bananas, very ripe
  • 3 Tbsp Flax seed
Preparation
  1. Add the blueberries, milk, and banana to your blender. If you like a thicker smoothie you can add some extra blueberries (or freeze the bananas you use -- that will thicken it up nicely too).
  2. Blend for 2-30 seconds. I just use the "smoothie" button on my blender.
  3. Serve immediately.
