Autonomous Desk Review|Adjustable Standing Desk
I was provided with product for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own.
Working from home, I’ve gotten used to being able to arrange my workspace to fit what I need. One of the most important elements of my office space has been a great standing desk. The Autonomous Smart Desk 2 adjustable standing desk is one of the best affordable standing desk options I have found and it makes it easy to customize your workspace exactly the way you like it.

I spend a lot of time working at my desk. That started to take a toll on me a few years ago when I began to develop back issues and chronic pain. I knew that if I wanted to continue working I’d need to make some changes. Having a great standing desk option has made such a huge difference in my day-to-day life.
The Autonomous SmartDesk 2 is a fantastic option for work-at-home moms. Even if you aren’t looking for a standing desk, I LOVE having the option to adjust the height of my desk when I’m sitting. You can get your work surface at the perfect height when you use and adjustable desk.

What we LOVE about the Autonomous SmartDesk 2
Let’s talk about the pros first, since there are a lot of them.

I am absolutely in love with the desktop surface. I do quite a bit of photography and the matte white surface is perfect as a backdrop and just makes a wonderful clean surface to work on.
That matte surface also has a HUGE benefit if you like to use a mouse instead of a laptop trackpad. Mice work! I have found that many desks these days have a glass top which means that you have to use a mouse pad to get them to work but with the Autonomous desk, a mouse works anywhere on the large surface.

The surface area of the desk is large so you have plenty of space to spread out while you are working. I’ve used several standing desks over the years but most of them don’t have a large surface area to work with so I end up using a secondary desk when I need to spread out and work.
I love the streamlined design of this desk. It has a modern, clean style and not having an extra support bar beneath the desk means you have some room for storage or any of the great under desk exercise options that are available.
This adjustable standing desk is very easy to operate. The controls are on the front of the desk and off to the side so you don’t have to worry about bumping them while you work. You can set presets and easily access the heights that you enjoy working at. I like setting a standing and sitting preset as well as one for when I want to change my posture at my desk. My husband also likes that there are enough presets for the heights for him to set some too for when he uses my desk.

The wire pass-throughs are convenient if you use a desktop or just want sometime to keep your laptop charger in a convenient spot.
There is a huge swing when it comes to prices on standing desks. The SmartDesk2 is the best affordable standing desk I have found. You get some really high-end features at an affordable price.
I love the combination of this adjustable standing desk with the ErgoChair2 for support when I use it in the seated position. It’s one of the few chairs that doesn’t aggravate my back issues.
Downsides of the the Autonomous SmartDesk 2
There are tradeoffs with anything and the Autonomous SmartDesk2 has some downsides as well. I would have loved to have seen some storage options, even if it was a tiny drawer. The design of the desk is so minimalistic, which I love, but I don’t want to mess up the surface by using it to store the things I use every day, although Autonomous does offer a separate filing cabinet that would fit under or next to the desk.
While the desk is very stable, I do notice a bit of a side-to-side wiggle when it is adjusted to the highest setting. It is still stable but I definitely noticed a bit more movement.
It would have been a nice touch to have some USB or power ports as part of the desk. I know people have mixed feelings on those but they are really useful to me.
The cords on this desk are extra long (which could be a good or bad thing) and the process to tidy them up and connect them to the underside of the desk is a bit clunky but it works.

Overall, this is a great desk for the price and I love the design and function of the whole thing.
If you are looking for a standing desk for a small work space, the SmartDesk 2 is a great way to go.
