Do you need a bit of friendly competition at your house?
With 6 kids, there’s a lot of competitiveness that goes on . . . not all of it friendly. I’ve found the best way to handle kids who can’t seem to get along is to throw them together and let them work it out.
Our usual method for this is camping. We’ve found if we throw all the fighting kids in a tent together, by morning they are best friends. That’s not always an option though so we decided to try something new. The new Pie Face Showdown from Hasbro Gaming will be available in stores and online on October 1st and is the perfect way to encourage a little friendly competition.
Pie Face Showdown has a hand (filled with whip cream) that starts in the center of the game. When you start to play, it’s a race to see who can move the hand far enough over towards their opponent that the hand will cream the player in the face.
My kids have been fighting all week. We’ve had a busy week that started with traveling out of town for a funeral so no one has been in a great mood. The combination of being way too busy and having too many cranky kids in one place has not been good.
Hasbro sent me the new Pie Face Showdown game to test out so on a particularly grumpy day, I pulled it out and decided to let the kids just fight it out . . . but with whip cream.
There were instant smiles and by the end, everyone was giggling.
Even my 13 year old (who was not cool with the idea of getting whip cream on his face) was begrudgingly amused and my 10 year old was laughing so hard he gave himself the hiccups.
He was a good sport about it but I think his brother enjoyed winning a bit more than he enjoyed losing.
We have a pretty wide range of ages in my house so it can be kind of tricky finding something everyone can play. I loved how this was perfect for my big kids and little kids so it was a great activity for everyone to do together.
I’m totally pulling this out during the holidays when we have friends and family over. I think my kids would get a kick out of playing this with Grandpa . . . or course Grandpa may not be thrilled about that but my kids can be convincing.
You can buy Pie Face Showdown on October 1st HERE.
