How to (Easily) Organize All Your Stuff
Are you having trouble keeping all your stuff organized? There are so many things we need to keep track of, everything from links we want to check out later to documents we don’t want to lose. Clipix is the perfect way to keep all your digital information in one place so you only have to find it once. A big thank you to them for sponsoring this post and helping us share this with you.
I’m the go-to person if anything goes missing in my house.
“Where are my socks?”
“basket at the top of the stairs”
“Where is my backpack?”
“You dropped it in the laundry room last time you came home from school.”
“Where is that paper that came in the mail?”
“On the desk in the office.”
I’m like a walking Siri.
The problem is I can keep track of the small stuff but I waste a lot of time trying to find things that I already found once before.
That recipe that I saw online and wanted to make. . .
The birthday party idea that a friend mentioned. . .
That vacation spot that I saw on Facebook . . .
I know a lot of moms have the same problem. We are swimming in information most of the time. Finding information is easy. Finding an easy way to keep track of all that information so we don’t have to hunt it down a second and third time is the hard part.
That’s where Clipix comes in. Clipix is a bit like Pinterest on steroids. You create boards to sort all your information then you can add everything from web links, products from ecommerce sites, images, files, or notes.
I’ve been playing with it lately and I’m hooked. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Pinterest. It’s just that I can never find anything once I pin it and you are pretty limited in what you can pin. Clipix let’s me save word documents to my boards, add images from my phone, or create notes so I have tons of ways to save information.
Here’s how Clipix works
I can never find recipes when I actually want to cook them. So I made a recipes board. Now all my recipes (links, files, those random recipes floating around my head) are together in one place.
I downloaded the Clipix plugin so I can just clip something when I come across it on a blog or website or I can add them directly on the site.
Easy.
Clipix lets me select the image that I want to use. It tries to guess which one I want but if the one that pops up isn’t my first choice it makes it easy to pull any image from the page by clicking on “view more images”.
When I clip it, I can add tags to make it easier to find, add it to the board I want, and add any notes.
But it doesn’t stop there. I have quite a few recipes saved in word documents or running around in my head. For those recipes I can just upload the word document or create a note and write down that quick little recipe I created that turned out awesome so that the next time I want to make it I have the information right there.
I’ve kept my boards private because it’s just information I want for myself but you can easily share your boards, email them, etc. if you need to share the information.
I really love the way you can use it to plan for upcoming events. My twins are turning two this spring and I’m terrible at birthday parties. Honestly. Terrible. The process is just so overwhelming to me and I get caught up trying to get all the details perfectly and then end up not enjoying the party.
I want to avoid that this year so I created a Twin’s Birthday Party Board. I’m using it to save everything in one place: all the food ideas, party ideas, toy ideas.
What I really love though is whenever I saw a toy idea, I have the option of creating a price drop alert. Since I still have several months before their birthday I have time to shop around.
I found some of the top gift ideas I’d love to get them and created price alerts for all of them. I’ll be notified when the price drops and I can grab their gift for a fraction of what I would have paid so I’m not only saving time but I’m saving money too.
Clipix is an awesome tool to have up your sleeve when you need a little help keeping track of everything. Since I started using it, I’ve saved so much time not having to hunt down things I’ve come across before and with the price alert feature I’m excited to start saving money on some of my future purchases too.
