We all know that mom; The one who shows up to birthday parties with the perfect card and the most beautifully wrapped gift you’ve ever seen.
That is not me.
When birthdays come around for family or friends I am usually doing a haphazard wrapping job at the last minute, folding some plain paper in half, writing who the gift is from and slapping it on there. I feel a little embarrassed showing up to parties and showers with an obvious lack of preparation. I want the receiver to feel like I care and put thought into their special day, and didn’t just throw something together. I have always felt very special myself when someone has given me a creative card and written a thoughtful note, and so I have made it a goal of mine to be more prepared and get organized.
Life is busy, and instead of dashing to the store every time someone I know has a birthday, I decided to stock up on some fun Hallmark cards. Since I am on a budget I went to Walmart where they sell Hallmark cards starting at only 47 cents a piece! That is a steal considering I usually see cards for $2-$3 each. At that price I can afford to buy a whole bunch at once, and there were so many great options. I found them easily in Walmart’s Celebration Center. While I was there I also grabbed some cute Hallmark wrapping paper and other supplies so I could create an organized gift wrap station in my office.
I needed all my cards to be easy to find and organized so I found a small box to store them in that would also look great in my gift wrap station.
I am not very handy and I wanted to go the easiest route possible with creating a beautiful gift station so I came up with the idea to use stick on wall hooks and wooden dowels to hang my wrapping paper. I found the hooks and dowels I needed at Walmart for under $10! Putting everything up took me about 5 minutes total.
I just added a wall shelf that I already owned to put my card box and various other supplies on and it was complete! Now with my pretty and organized space I have no excuse not to be more prepared with my gifting.
