Dressing Your Post Baby Bod (with a Giveaway from BellyMoms!)
Thanks to BellyMoms Maternity and Nursingwear for sponsoring this post and giveaway!
I know there are some of you out there who have a baby and two days later your six pack is back in business — this post is not for you (but kudos, seriously).
For the rest of us, the mommy pouch may take a while to work off and it can also be really hard to find nursing friendly AND flattering clothes.

Six months postpartum I have picked up a few tips that have made me feel more confident with my new body. I really struggled feeling beautiful when I was round the clock nursing and living in sweatpants. So after a couple months of that I decided I needed a mommy makeover.
Here are some of my tips on looking your best postpartum:
Find Nursing friendly clothes!
I found some really cute nursing tops from BellyMoms Maternity and Nursingwear which was a HUGE deal to me. I wanted to be able to look put together while nursing and it can be hard to find nursing friendly shirts. The great thing about their shirts is you can wear them while you are pregnant and keep wearing them after when you are nursing.
I love the Julia Crossover Twist Dual Maternity Nursing Top because the empire waist was really flattering and hid my not so flattering loose skin. It has a discreet opening for breastfeeding and the quality was fantastic.

Wear shoes with a little bit of height
I am not talking stilettos, but even ankle boots or wedges with a small heel. It will make your legs look longer, lift your booty and make you look thinner. It also makes me feel a little more dressy and feminine than wearing sneakers.
Buy new pants that actually fit
I know this should seem obvious, but I know SO many moms who fight this and wear their maternity jeans for 3 months post partum (guilty!) I cannot stress this enough. I refused to buy new pants for a while because I wanted to wait until I could squeeze back into my pre baby skinny jeans. I kept making the mistake of trying on jeans that were slightly too small because I had a goal to fit into them, but doing that just gives you an unsightly muffin top and makes you feel bad about yourself.
I am not saying you should give up on trying to fit into your old jeans, but in the meantime, just get a new pair. It will make you feel way more comfortable and in turn more confident.
Dry Shampoo is your friend
When you are sleep deprived and busy with a baby, it can be hard to do your hair every day. So for those days where you got two hours of sleep and can’t muster the energy, dry shampoo is the best! It makes your hair look and smell freshly washed and it takes like 10 seconds to do.
Splurge on a nice bra
This was seriously the best thing I ever did. After having a baby your chest size changes dramatically so I went and got professionally fitted (department stores will do it for free) and got some SUPER comfortable bras.
You’d be surprised at how much better your clothes look on you when you have a good fitting bra underneath. BellyMoms Maternity and Nursingwear has some really good options for nursing bras as well that I would recommend checking out!
Layer your clothing
Cardigans, jackets or compression tank tops are so slimming and will help to hide any random bulges you want to conceal. This may be a little harder to do in the hot summer months but it is pretty easy to find thin lightweight cardigans as well.

I wore a lot og nursing tanks under all of my clothes after I had my first. It helped make breastfeeding while out easier and therefore I felt comfortable breastfeeding in public and that helped make me feel confident about my body. I also was able to participate in a 4th trimesters body photo shoot after I had my second. And that was amazing! 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!
Before having a baby I was very nervous about my weight. Now I feel great. I wear pretty nursing clothes and just feel great that I carried life!
I always recommend nursing…but other than that, wear comfortable FITTING pants, and layers always help…but most of all realize the blessing you have and that change takes time…you didn’t get to be the size you are overnight and it will take a little bit of work and time to get back to a new comfortable you!
I’m a first time mom, and baby is still in the oven, but I plan to use comfy clothing, nice nursing tops and remind my self I gave life to someone and my body is amazing the way it is.
Have a few colorful and flattering outfits that you love and are easy to launder. Make it simple to look your best with not so much effort and time!
I have not given birth yet but this article is giving me good ideas for the “after” 🙂
Cool clothes that launder easily.
Keeping/getting a manicure can help you feel like at least you have one part together.
I don’t have advice yet because I’m a new mom, but enjoy looking at everyone’s tips for me!
I wish I had tips. I look a mess after my fourth baby
I think the key is to find pieces that make you feel good and not to worry about sizes/fitting back into your old clothes immediately.

I wear a lot of dresses that are not too conforming until I get back to or almost to my original body weight.
Try to focus on the amazing life you just created and how incredible your body if for that!

It takes time to get back to your normal weight. 🙂
Wear comfortable clothes that fit well and remember you just had a baby
I am only 2 weeks post-partum with my first baby, so not many tips. I wear nursing/slimming tanks and I remind myself how amazing my body is for carrying our little one for 9 months and producing a healthy and happy baby. I also remind myself it took 9 months to transform my body during pregnancy. It is going to take a while to transform my post-partum body.
It’s important to get some “me” time to unwind and stay sane. Sometimes just going to Target and walking around alone is great.
Take it easy on yourself.
Comfy cute clothes~!
I would say not to judge your looks by the first few weeks. It takes time to get back to your body. Have patience.
Eating healthy and staying positive.
Don’t compare yourself to the moms who seem to look great a week post-partum. Every body is different!
I am due in June so I haven’t given birth yet, but I’ve received many suggestions. I think just being comfortable is important and not worrying to much about fitting in to pre pregnancy clothes.
Cute
My tip is to mind what you eat, and try to take 15 minutes or so a day at least to do light exercises if you are able. Just that little bit will make getting back into shape less daunting when you are able to go back to 100 percent effort.
Wear loose fitting tunic shirts that are pretty, but aren’t form fitting.
Dress in clothing that makes you feel comfortable.
Just go on window shopping, and have an idea what I would like when the baby weight comes off.
Keep it simple and fresh.
Wearing nice and comfortable clothing and working on a goal to lose the baby weight.put a lot of effort into it
My tip is a great fitting bra and a tight fitting nursing tank top to hold everything in!!
Taking a little time for yourself everyday for some self=care It is easier said than done, but finding 20 minutes to shower and comb your hair, maybe a smidge of makeup makes you FEEL more like yourself.
One should feel good about the way one looks by realizing one’s own beauty.
I needed a dress outfit right after our daughter was born. It would have been good if I’d had something on hand that was just a little biggger than what I use to wear. We prepare ahead for our baby that will be coming, but we don’t always take care of ourselves.
To wear simple comfortable clothes
Best tip I have to give is to start out slowly and don’t expect results over night.
remind yourself that you just made a human being
I don’t have any tips for feeling good about the way you look after having a baby quite yet, as I haven’t yet had a baby. Hoping for soon! 🙂
By just reminding yourself you brought the miracle of life into the world. Give yourself a break!
wear clothes that accent your weight and think poitive ,remember in time you will get back to your pre baby weight .wear pretty colors
breastfeeding helps get your body back to normal.
Just be grateful to your body for all the hard work it did bringing your amazing baby onto the planet! Some days I didn’t feel great about myself, but if I would just get dressed and take a shower- take care of myself a little bit- I would feel much better!
Allow yourself time to sleep, be lazy, enjoy baby and then start with just a simple routine of jump rope.
And little by little enjoy yourself in getting to where you want to go.
Wear your maternity jeans as long as you need to!
be patient with yourself. treat yourself good. eat healthy and exercise when you are ready to get moving. you will thank yourself.
My tip is that it took 9 month to have the baby, and you have at least 9 months to get your body back!
I wear clothes that are comfortable and I know are not too tight. They are clothes which are brightly colored and just make me feel good about myself and how I look.
