Free Printable: Clean/Messy Room Sign

We are having a messy room problem at my house lately. My kids just don’t seem motivated to keep their things picked up. The usual chore list/nagging/bribery wasn’t working so I thought I’d come up with a visual way for kids to keep track of whether their bedroom was clean or messy with this free printable clean/messy room sign!
Supplies Needed
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Thick paper or cardstock
- A copy of the clean/messy room printable (or click on the image below to download)
Instructions

This is super easy to make. Just print the clean/ messy room sign. I did this on thick paper and folded it in half. You could also cut it and glue it to a wooden sign or laminate it to make it more durable. I just wanted quick and easy.
Use a hole puncher to punch holes in each of the top corners of this. Make sure your holes are far enough away from the edge that they won’t tear as your child moves it around.
Use a piece of ribbon (or yarn, string, etc.) and feed it through the holes to create a loop that you can use to hang the sign on the bedroom door.
When your child’s bedroom is messy, you can put the “messy” side hanging out so your child knows it’s time to clean the bedroom. When she cleans it, she gets to turn the sign around! That’s way more fun than checking something off a to-do list for kids!
