Have the Ultimate Movie Night with These Loaded Popcorn Bowls

Have your kids seen Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie? My family saw it in the theatre and we have been anxiously waiting for it to available in stores. The DVD is available for pre-order right now in Walmart Stores and we already planning the ultimate family movie night to celebrate. These loaded popcorn bowls are a huge hit with kids and they are perfect for a crowd. This is such a great way to take your movie night to the next level. 

Most Friday night’s you’ll find us in our backyard, a tarp strung up to our shed, with 20 teenagers lounging on any surface they can find. As soon as it gets dark, we’ll project a movie onto the tarp and spend the night listening to kids laugh along with their favorite movies.

As a mom, I love it because I know where my kids are and it gives me an amazing chance to get to know my kids’ friends and hang out near them, you know, at a distance that isn’t embarrassing of course.

We don’t have movie nights around my house without popcorn and our go-to is Pop Secret. We love the flavor and they have some amazing varieties that never get old.

I’ve learned with teenagers (and any kids really) if you feed them they’ll stick around for a little while so we make sure we are well stocked on snacks before we start planning a movie night.

With the Captain Underpants release just around the corner, I know that’s going to be at the top of the list of movies to watch in our backyard so we have begun stocking up on snacks at Walmart. My whole family went and saw the movie in the theatre. I loved that because with kids ages 3-14 it can be really tricky for us to find a movie that everyone enjoys. I wasn’t familiar with the books before seeing the movie so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I loved seeing how deeply the theme of friendship was intertwined throughout the entire movie. I was surprised that it ended up being a feel-good movie and my kids all loved it.

We wanted to try something just a bit different this time so we are planning on setting up a loaded popcorn bowl bar complete with Pop Secret and our favorite flavors of Lance crackers. Lance has been making cracker sandwiches for over 100 years and they are the perfect addition to our popcorn bowls. They add some great variety and the flavors you can choose from are delicious. We grabbed the Lance crackers, Pop Secret, and the rest of our snacks on our latest Walmart run.

Snacks are always more fun when you can customize them a bit and pick exactly what you want.

We added some of our favorite snacks onto our popcorn bowl bar. You could get creative and use just about any snacks you’d like on this. If you don’t mind the mess, throw in some chocolate syrup that kids can drizzle on top.

We did a trial run while we wait for Captain Underpants to come out on DVD and my kids absolutely loved it. I suspect this will become a standard at our movie nights, both with friends and our family movie nights at home. This is the best sidekick to any movie . . . but especially to Captain Underpants.
