How to Help a Teething Toddler (Tips from a Mom of 6)
Teething is not a fun milestone for anyone and that goes double when you have teething twins (I currently have one twin who is cutting 4 molars!). It’s exciting in a way, and those new little teeth always look so cute once they come through, but it’s so sad when you have a baby who is hurting. Orajel™ Kids definitely understands teething and offered to sponsor this post so we could share some tips with you.
We’ve had more than a few rough nights lately thanks to all those new teeth that are coming in. With twins, it seems like someone is always teething.
I’ve spent lots of time caring for teething babies and toddlers over the years so I should have this down but every baby is a bit different so it’s always a bit of a process to find something that works. We definitely have a few favorite teething remedies though that we go to as soon as we notice those tell-tale signs that a new tooth is coming in.
One of our favorite brands to help with teething pain (and many of the other dental milestones that kids go through) has always been Orajel Kids. Orajel Kids is the the #1 teething brand recommended by pediatricians and pharmacists and the brand I’ve used with all my kids from the time they were tiny. They have a great line of products that are designed
Teething Tips
- Wet a washcloth and freeze it. Let your toddler chew on it to relieve teething pain.
- Rub Baby Orajel Naturals on your toddler’s gums. I find this works especially well before bedtime or a nap when teething pain is making it hard for your toddler to sleep.
- Let your toddler chew on a toothbrush. The bristles feel good on painful gums and it’s a good way to get your toddler used to the idea of brushing.
- Make baby sized popsicles for your toddler to eat. Have you tried our momsicles? They are always a hit or you could freeze applesauce, fruit juice, or your favorite smoothie.
- Make time for extra snuggles. Sometimes all a teething baby or toddler needs is some extra time with mom. That will often do more to comfort your child than just about anything else.
- Put frozen peas in a mesh babyfood strainer. The combination of the cold and the texture of the frozen peas is fantastic on sore gums.
