Interview with Always Eat After 7PM Author Joel Marion

I never struggled with my weight until I had twins and since then it has been a constant challenge. As I read through Always Eat After 7PM, I was encouraged because Joel Marion has created an eating plan that fits more closely with the way I intuitively want to eat.

He encourages intermittent fasting, eating “super carbs” that support your metabolism, “volumizing” your foods with lower-calorie choices, and smart late-night snacking to support your blood sugar as you sleep.
I’m naturally not hungry first thing in the morning but I get snacky late at night. On most plans that tendency has killed my success because by the time it hits 7PM I’ve already eaten my allotted calories for the day.
So far I’m having a lot of success on the plan and I’m really encouraged about where it will take me as I get through the first “acceleration phase” and move onto the “main phase” that will allow for cheat days so I can enjoy my favorite foods.
We had some questions for Joel Marion about the book and it was great to hear a bit more about what went into creating this plan.
Q: What inspired you to create this eating plan?
A: After authoring 6 best selling books it was glaringly obvious there were 2 huge misconceptions about dieting that needed to be exposed. The first is that you can’t eat late at night or before bed, which science now shows is NOT true. And second, you can’t eat large portions that satisfy your natural instinct. This book solves both these problems by providing an evidence-based, enjoyable approach to dieting that can be used by any person to quickly achieve their weight loss goals.
Q: How long did it take for you to develop this diet?
It actually took several years of researching for me to discover the real science of eating late night. After a few years of tweaking and refining, I finally came up with a rapid fat loss solution that overcomes all the pitfalls of traditional diets.
Q: What was the most surprising discovery that you made when you were researching?
That almost everything my college education and certifications taught me was NOT grounded in published scientific research.
Q: How difficult is the Always Eat After 7 PM plan to follow?
It’s not. And that’s exactly why I wrote the book. While any diet is never truly easy, it can be more enjoyable and much easier to adhere to when you understand how Always Eat After 7pm works because it caters to our bodies natural instincts.
