Mornin’ Sunshine! Breakfast Smoothie
My kids are not morning people. I wake them up each morning with a (loud) “Mornin’ Sunshine!” and try and drag their cranky butts out of bed.
It rarely works.
I’m working on training the dog to push them out of bed because they don’t get quite as mad at him.
After getting them out the door in the morning, I definitely need a little pick me up. This “Mornin’ Sunshine” smoothie is just the thing to do it. Packed with lemon, lime, and orange, this citrus-fueled smoothie not only tastes great, it has the vitamins you need to stay healthy since we all know moms don’t have time to get sick.
I give this smoothie a little extra boost by adding in an Emergen-C packet. Emergen-C is a staple at our house during the school year. It is packed with B vitamins, antioxidants†, electrolytes plus more vitamin C than 10 oranges. With over 20 flavors, you have plenty of delicious varieties to choose from.*

Before the kids went back to school I made a quick trick to Walmart to grab some essentials and make sure that I was taking care of my own needs too. Walmart is always the first place we go when we need anything. At the top of my list was Emergen-C (get a $2 off coupon here) and ChapStick (get a $0.50 coupon off here).
Living in the desert, I always have ChapStick on me. ChapStick softens and protects lips every day with 11 moisturizing ingredients. SPF 12 provides UVB protection. Hydrating formula contains aloe and vitamin E.
Ready to make the smoothie?
Ingredients
- 1 Orange, peeled
- 1 lemon, peeled
- 1 lime, peeled
- 1 banana
- 1/2 can of pineapple with juice
- 1 cup carrot juice
- 1 packet of Emergen-C, orange
- Ice
Preparation
Add all the smoothie ingredients to the blender, except the Emergen-C. I like to add just a bit of lemon peel as well but you can certainly leave that out if you’d prefer.
Blend until you get a consistency that you like. Pour a glass and stir in the packet of Emergen-C.
If you want a stronger flavor, you could use frozen pineapple instead of ice or freeze the carrot juice in an ice-cube tray.
