Moms are ALWAYS on the go. Whether you are running errands, or shuffling kids around to lessons, life can get hectic. I have often found myself in situations where I needed something and I wasn’t able to get to the store or go back home. I often feel like I am always that flustered mom who doesn’t have it together so I have been making an effort to be more prepared for life’s little necessities.
So, I put together a simple kit that I keep in my purse so that I always have some basic emergency items on hand. Now you may not have a huge or serious emergency very often (hopefully) but everyone has times where they need to meet with someone important and forgot to brush their teeth while running out the door, or maybe you get a splitting headache during your child’s play. It’s those times that make this kit so handy and necessary for me.
I am really lucky to be in walking distance to a shopping center so when putting together my kit I walked over to Walgreens to get most of my items. They sell these new Extra® 35-stick packs of gum which was perfect for my kit because it holds so much but the durable packaging is still small enough to put in my purse. While I was there I also picked up a bunch of other items to put in my kit.
This kit does not have to be big and bulky! If you are anything like me your purse gets cluttered fast. So I just used a ziplock bag to put my items in and took some things out of the packaging to cut down on space.  Things like bandaids and toothpicks take up little no room when they are loose.
Heres a list of the things I included in my kit:
–Extra® 35-stick gum (these contain more gum than regular packages so they will last you longer!). You can get these in two flavors: Extra® Gum Spearmint and Extra® Gum Polar Ice®.
-flossers
-bandaids
-hand sanitizer
-bobby pins and a hair tie
-aspirin
-stain eraser pen
-lip balm
Some other things you could include are:
-a granola bar or other portable snack
-safety pins
-mini sewing kit
-handwarmers
-tissues
-tampons
-sunscreen
Everyone has different needs so feel free to narrow down your items to the things you would use the most. I for one cannot sew so I am not going to need a sewing kit even if I do lose a button :). Â If I use up an item I always make sure to replace it when I get back home so I am prepared for next time.
Do you have a must-have purse item because of a funny/bad expeience? We’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
Love this DIY purse kit. I plan to make one based on your ideas. I always have hand sanitizer in my purse. I will also add the Healer Skin Stick from Perfectly Posh for those cuts and scrapes that inevitably happen. I think I’ll put my kit in one of my many Ipsy bags I have lying around!
