Review of the OSO Mattress by Reverie
No parent has ever stated “I got more than enough sleep last night”, especially if you have a daughter who likes to climb in bed with mommy and daddy and kick you all night long.
While the OSO mattress by Reverie may not be able to calm my daughter’s late night fears, it has a unique approach to help people get a good night’s sleep. It is foam mattress that lets you choose by rotating (not flipping) the mattress 180 degrees to let you choose between firm or soft support. Oso sent us one of their mattresses to try out and we are so excited to share our thoughts with you.
The OSO mattress showed up on my doorstep in a box which I actually moved to the bedroom by myself (try doing that with a king size inner-spring mattress).
When I opened it up, it was folded in half and tightly rolled in a plastic bag but once you cut the bag with the included cutter, everything changes. I starts growing into the size that a king size mattress should be. This process took a few hours to fully “puff up”.

I mentioned earlier how the bed can be either firm or soft. OSO calls this Micro-Targeted Support. There is more about how it works on their website, but basically they designed it with half of it being soft and half being firm. The idea being that your upper body cares a lot more if it is firm or soft than your lower body so you put the side you prefer at the top.
At first, I wasn’t quite sure about this concept. When I first laid down on the bed, shortly after unboxing, it even irritated me that I could feel a bump in the middle of the bed where it transitioned from firm to soft. Hours later that bump completely disappeared and now I can’t even find where one side ends and the other begins. You just have to give the mattress time to get to its intended state.
I really like the flexibility of easily changing the bed from soft to firm but admit that most people will likely just decide which way they like it better and just leave it.
So how does it sleep?
Many people worry about foam mattresses sleeping too hot. This was a particular concern of ours as we live in a fairly warm area of the country. I am happy to say that neither my husband, nor I, have ever felt like this bed sleeps hot, despite the fact that I typically can’t regulate my temperature and constantly change the house thermostat during the day.
My husband often used to wake up sore after a nights sleep. He no longer has that problem with this bed.
I am a side sleeper. This means that on most beds, I wake up when my arm falls asleep. Even on the firm side of this mattress, I have not noticed that issue.
The final thing I love about this mattress is that I don’t notice when my husband moves around. He is a big guy and often used to wake me up when he rolls around. This is helping both of us stay asleep longer.
Overall, we are very happy with our OSO mattress. Now we just have to get my daughter to stay in her bed through the night . . .
