Simplify your Life with the Logitech + Alexa
My kids are smarter than me.
I used to think that I was really good with technology, but these days I constantly find myself relying on my kids for tech support. If you are like me, you want technology to simplify your life, not complicate it. Which is precisely what makes the Logitech Harmony Elite Remote with the Amazon Echo Dot the perfect gift for mom this Mother’s Day.
It’s been an ongoing joke in our home for years that I have to ask the kids how to work the T.V.
When I was a kid, you would just turn on the tv and watch it (which, when I tell my kids that now, makes me seem really old). Now you have to turn the on the tv, the speakers, adjust the input, select your streaming source, and find what app has the show you want to watch.
I get frustrated 5 minutes in and just get my kids to do it for me.
The Logitech Harmony Elite remote does all of this in one step. All I have to do is select “Watch TV” on the touch screen and it takes care of of powering on and adjusting all the inputs. The only tricky part I have to figure out is what I want to watch.
The Harmony remote even works with Alexa. By adding an Amazon Echo (which is one of the favorite tools in my house), I can control many activities with only my voice.
It makes me feel really lazy asking the tv to turn itself on, but it is actually convenient, especially when my arms are wrapped up cuddling my twins.
While this is certainly convenient when in the same room as the tv, I was shocked at how much I have fallen in love with doing this from the Amazon Echo in my office.
When you work at home, you find that your small kids often come in asking you to do things like turn on the tv for them. With Harmony + Alexa, I could actually turn on Paw Patrol from my office and even turn down the volume when I had an important call. Genius!
The Harmony Remote’s capabilities don’t stop with your entertainment center. While it can certainly control all your devices there (even if it is behind cabinet doors), it is really a whole home remote and can replace almost every remote control in your house. With just a simple command, I can not only turn on a movie but dim the lights, adjust the thermostat and even look the doors.
It seems like every few days, a remote control disappears at our house. Often times they are found a few days later (usually hiding somewhere in the couch) but kids often get tired of being asked to walk up to the TV to adjust things like the volume (#firstworldproblems).
The Logitech Harmony Elite rescues my kids from excess exercise through the Harmony Hub. The Hub allows you to use a smartphone to control the many of the same features as the physical remote.
As a busy work at home mom with 6 kids, I am always asked how I survive without a personal assistant. It’s tools like the Logitech Harmony Elite that acts like a digital personal assistant and helps me get everything done that I need to in the easiest way possible.
