Stocking Stuffers for $1 or Less

One of the last things on my Christmas list to get done is always the Christmas stockings. I go out in a panic and usually spend way too much money on junk. There are plenty of ideas for really memorable stockings that don’t cost a fortune. Here are some on my list.
Free Samples/ Trial Sizes
I like to go online throughout the year and collect free samples. I go to places like Vocalpoint and Walmart. These items make great cheap stocking stuffers. You can also buy trial sizes for under $1 if you did not get any samples.
Candy
Candy can be a pretty cheap item to put in stockings. You can get a large bag and fill several stockings with one bag. You can also use any Halloween candy you got for real cheap after Halloween. Just make sure they do not look too much like Halloween. Many dollar stores sell a whole bag for $1.
Pencils/ School Supplies
I found a large package of Christmas pencils at the Dollar Tree that I plan to use for stocking stuffers. You can also use school supplies that you have bought marked down during the Back to School sales. I bought items like crayons for $0.30 and colored pencils for $1.00. These items would be perfect to stuff in a stocking.
Fruit
As a child we always found fruit in our stockings. I find that there are lots of great deals on oranges and apples during the holidays. Right now one store has a whole bag of oranges for $1.50 for a 3 lb bag. This would easily fill my four kid’s stockings. So, look for deals on fruit as it gets closer to Christmas.
Drug Store Freebies
I love to collect freebies from the drug stores like CVS and Rite Aid by using store reward programs and my coupons. By the time Christmas gets here, I have a lot of stuff to put in the stockings. I buy items such as tooth brushes, razors, bath soaps, etc. These are items people can really use and they don’t cost you anything, or very little.
Matchbox, Action Figures, and Plastic Jewelry
The dollar stores are great places to find frugal stocking stuffers. I have found nice Matchbox cars. You can also find these cars for less than $1 at places like Wal-Mart. There are also plenty of action figures for $1 that would be perfect for young boys and even some girls. Little girls love plastic jewelry and you can usually find some for less than a dollar.
Gloves
We can all use some new gloves for going out in this cold weather. I found several really nice pairs at the Dollar tree and even Walmart for $1.00.
Chapstick/Lip gloss
Colder weather means our lips get dry and chapped. You can find lots of different scented lip glosses and chapstick to keep you lips hydrated. I can also found these at the dollar stores.
