The Benefits of Probiotics for Women

Finding small ways to take care of yourself when life is busy is so important. As a working mom of 6, there is not a lot of free time in my day. It’s easy to let self-care slip through the cracks, but when I do, I’m way less productive and not able to be the mom I want to be. So I make it a priority. One of the small steps I take for my own health every day (and that I’m convinced every woman should be doing) is take a good probiotic.
I know that when I feel better and take care of my own health, I am better able to be the mom that I want to be.
Probiotics work kind of the same way our food choices do. We can choose to eat good food or bad food. If we eat nothing but junk food, we aren’t going to feel great. We have to balance out those little splurges by making sure we have made enough good food choices that our bodies won’t notice our little slip up too much.
What does this have to do with probiotics?
Our bodies need bacteria, but not all bacteria is created equal. We need to make sure that we have enough good bacteria to counteract the bad bacteria or our entire body can pay the price.
Did you know that some of the choices you make could be making you lose the good bacteria in your body?
A few reasons this happens are:
- You are eating a diet low in prebiotic fiber.
- You are eating a diet low in probiotic foods.
- You are eating too much sugar.
- You are eating too many simple carbohydrates.
Eating healthy, especially when life is super busy (which I know is pretty much all the time) is hard. We know we will feel so much better when we make good food choices but actually putting that into action can be tricky sometimes.
I let myself start from scratch each morning.
That means, even if my diet wasn’t perfect the day before, I have a clean slate. I can make better choices for my health. Some days that means I choose foods that make me feel great . . . other days I flop.
Regardless of how well I do on my healthy eating goals, I always make sure to take a great probiotic. I’ve tried so many supplements over the years. Some I haven’t been convinced did anything. I’m always playing around with different supplements trying to feel my best. The one supplement I always make sure to include daily is a great probiotic.
Probiotics have done more to help me feel better each day than just about any other supplement I have tried. I didn’t realize what a difference they made in the way I feel until I was taking them regularly . . . no pun intended.
