Toasted Apple and Fennel Crostini with Klement’s Summer Sausage

We make time for it though, because I recognize how important that is . . . and with teenage boys in the house, I know that if I feed them they’ll keep coming back to the dinner table. This simple and delicious appetizer featuring Klement’s Summer Sausage is the perfect way to gather in the kitchen as a meal is cooking or to start off a backyard barbecue. My whole family loves these Toasted Apple and Fennel Crostini topped with garlic summer sausage. It is the perfect way to jump start a great meal.

Summer sausage is a frequent addition to our dinner table when we have a crowd, because it makes the perfect appetizer and my family absolutely loves it.
For this crostini appetizer, we used a combination of the the Klement’s Cheddar Summer Sausage and the Klement’s Garlic Summer Sausage. I loved it with the garlic sausage, but my kids all went for cheddar so we made some with each and everyone was happy.
Toasted Apple and Fennel Crostini Ingredients
- Klement’s Cheddar Summer Sausage or Klement’s Garlic Summer Sausage
- Crostini toast (or a small baguette sliced and toasted)
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Apple, thinly sliced
- Fennel, thinly sliced
- Green onions (optional), sliced
Toasted Apple and Fennel Crostini Instructions
Spread your crostini with thinly sliced fennel and apple.
Top lightly with shredded mozzarella.
Broil on high for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
In the meantime, slice your summer sausage and cut it into quarters.
Pull your crostini out of the oven, sprinkle with pepper and top with Klement’s summer sausage and sliced green onions.
Serve.
This makes an amazing addition to any meal and is perfect year-round.
