Top Family Board Games Everyone will Love
Are you looking for good family games? These top family board games are ones that everyone will enjoy … even if they are not normally big board game fans.

Board games are a great way to spend time together as a family but it can be a bit of a challenge to find good family games that hold everyone’s attention.
I’ll admit, I’m not a huge board game fan myself but even I love the games on this list.
I have always loved using board games to teach my kids — check out this list of educational board games for kids — but they haven’t always been my first choice in entertainment.
These games are so fun that they’ve changed my mind though. I love sitting down with my family and taking the time to relax and play together.
With teenagers in the house, it’s hard to find something that everyone enjoys. Many of these games can be enjoyed by adults, teens, and younger kids so they are great when you need something for the whole family to play together.

Our go-to used to be sitting in front of the TV. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it really doesn’t give us a chance to catch up and interact, which is important when you have teenagers who often don’t give you more than a one-word response to a question.
Board games are so much more interactive and we’ve created some fun memories sitting around the kitchen table after a busy day.

These top board games for families will help you rediscover family game night!
Catan The Board Game
Catan is a family game that I'd heard nothing but good things about, but I thought it would be too complex to learn how to play. I shouldn't have waited because now it is my favorite game. The idea behind this game is that you collect resources to expand your civilization. There's some real strategy involved in this game and my family gets super competitive with it. The original game can be 3-4 players but if you want to play with a larger group they make expansion packs so this one is fun for a crowd. There are also several different varieties of this game that look interesting.
Codenames
Codenames is a family game that my sister introduced to me and it is a fun one if you really want to interact with people. There's a lot of verbal communication going on in this game and it's one where you really have to be on your toes. You play in teams, so this is great for a game night with a larger group. It's challenging but not so hard that it is frustrating. This game got us all laughing (and we've realized that none of us are cut out for spywork). They also have a fun Harry Potter Codenames version that I've been tempted to try
Days of Wonder Ticket to Ride
Ticket to Ride as one of the first games I'd enjoyed in a long time. I'd given up board games because they just didn't appeal to me but this fun strategy game changed all of that for me. I love playing this with my family and the app on my phone is pretty fun too (either alone or playing against someone). There are several different versions of this. Our games get pretty competitive so be prepared to fight it out until the end. These games do take a while so settle in for a long game night.
TelestrationsÂ
Who else LOVED the telephone game as a kid? This game is basically telephone turned into a drawing game. This is loads of fun for a group and a great way to get people interacting at a party.
Relative Insanity Party Game
I have not played this game yet but it looks hilarious. I've watched a few videos of it being played and it looks like it is a great way to loosen people up at game night. It's a Toy of the Year finalist this year so it definitely has some fans. If you need a game that will get you laughing, this one is it.
Pandemic
My family started playing Pandemic last year and it's a unique game. We've really enjoyed it. It's a bit different than most games in that you don't play against each other. Everyone works together too beat the pandemic before it becomes a worldwide crisis so if you have a problem with people getting a little too competitive at game night this may be a good option for you.
Hedbanz Adulting
My family all loves the Hedbanz game but this "adulting" version makes it a lot more entertaining for teens and adults. This would make a fantastic party game, especially if you want to get people talking.
KingdominoÂ
Kindgomino is an Award Winning Family Strategy Board Game and I've heard nothing but good things about it. This one is on our list of games to try because it has been recommended to us so many times.
BlokusÂ
Confession: I went a long time without playing any games because I just didn't think I was a game person. Then I discovered Blokus and realized that there were some really fun family games out there. This game gets a lot of playtime at my house. I think of it as Tetrus in physical (and competitive) form.
Jokers and Marbles GameÂ
Think of this game as a more advanced version of the game "Sorry". This game is great for the whole family and is a more unique one to pull out on game night. You can play with 4-8 players, so it's a great one for a group.
Who's The Dude Charades Game
This game is a twist on a classic family game. Think of it like Charades, except with a blow-up "dude" that can help you act things out. The age on the box says 16+ but this is suitable for younger kids as well, they just might need a bit of help if they don't understand some of the words.
7 Wonders
This strategy game has a huge following and is a great option for family game night. You are the leader of one of the 7 great cities of the Ancient World. Gather resources, develop commercial routes and affirm your military supremacy. Build your city and erect an architectural wonder which will transcend future times. You can play with 3-7 players and each game only takes about 30 minutes.
Qwirkle Board Game
This is a fun game if you are playing with mixed ages. Gameplay is recommended for ages 6 and up but even adults will enjoy this fun mix and match game.
Plan B Games Azul Board Game Board Games
Visually, this game is gorgeous but it's also always a hit with kids and adults alike. Azul is a tile-placement game in which players compete for the highest score by claiming tiles and arranging them on their board to score points. You can finish a game in 30-40 minutes so it's great for game night.
Sequence Game
Sequence is always a hit. There's a lot of strategy to this game. The goal is to get five in a row, or a sequence. Each player or team tries to score the required number of five-card sequences before their opponents.
We hope your family enjoys these games as much as ours have. It’s always nice to have some great board games for families on hand when you need something to entertain everyone for the night.
