How to Create a Gift Grandparents will Love
Are you stumped when it comes to grandparent gifts this holiday season? I’m so glad Walmart sponsored today’s post so we can share some of our favorites with you.
The holidays can get crazy. It’s easy to get caught up in your to-do list and forget why you are doing what you are doing.
Gift giving falls in this category for me. In previous years, I’ve often found myself just checking gifts off my lists and making sure everyone was covered without putting as much thought as I would have liked into each gift.
Why?
I simply didn’t have the time.
Fortunately, you can create amazing, personalized gifts that everyone on your list, especially grandparents, will love. We will show you a few ideas to help you create memorable gifts for grandparents that they will love all year long.
Create a Child’s Artwork Calendar
Do you have stacks and stacks of artwork your kids have created and no idea what to do with it all? We have the perfect solution.
Photograph your favorite pieces of art and use them to create a photo calendar at Walmart. I love the idea of gifting a calendar because it is something that can be used all year long and it provides a great reminder that someone cares.
Grandparents will love this personalized photo gift and it will give them a chance to see artwork your kids have done that they may not have seen, especially if they live far away.
To photograph your child’s artwork, lay it on a white surface (a piece of white poster board will work just fine), place it close to a natural light source (avoid direct light but next to a window is perfect), and take a photo from above. If you find your light is too harsh, you can use another piece of poster board to block the direct light and softly bounce light onto the artwork.
Create a Yearly Photo Highlights Calendar
With digital photos being so easy to print, it’s crazy to me how rarely my photos make it off my computer or phone and into a frame. Social media makes it easy to share photos but grandparents often prefer printed photos that they can enjoy in their home.
Take your favorite photos from the previous year and create a photo calendar for the grandparents. Include photos that you may not have shared on social media so your gift includes something new and exciting.
I put together a gorgeous photo calendar at Walmart in less than ten minutes. Once I had my photos picked out, it was super easy to arrange them where I wanted them (there was even an auto-arranging option if I didn’t want to do it myself).
In minutes, I had a personal gift that the grandparents were going to love and you sure can’t beat the price! You can even print multiple copies for each set of grandparents (and keep one for yourself). Even better, Photo Calendars are on Rollback for just $10 through 12/18.
There are 3,500 Walmart Photo locations nationwide or you can order online here. I was able to select same-day pick-up so this is perfect for a last minute gift idea too!
Make a Video of your Kids Sharing their Favorite Things
Have you ever thought of giving a video as a gift? Grandparents love to see cute videos of the grandkids. My own mom is always telling me to take more video (I really do need to remember to take more videos).
Sit your kids down in front of the Christmas tree or a cute background and interview them.
Ask them about their interests, favorite color, best friend, and anything else you want. It will be such a fun keepsake to have since those answers change so quickly. Put them together in a single video and send it to the grandparents.
If they live far away, this gift could even be emailed to keep things simple (or as a great last-minute holiday gift).
