Frugal Back-To-School
Well, school will be starting soon, so it’s time to start looking for deals on school supplies for your children. Many stores already have lists provided by schools for items that the kids will need for their classes. Here are a few things to remember when trying to have a frugal back to school.
Plan Ahead
Fail to plan, plan to fail. I think it is so important to plan ahead for things you know are going to happen. This way you won’t be surprised when you have to spend that money; Start saving early for back to school needs so you will be able to get the things your child needs. Also, stores start selling back to school items in the middle of July and you need to go as soon as you can to ensure you get the items your kids want.
Take Advantage of Sales
Many stores offer great sales during back to school. I was able to get crayons for 30 cents and colored pencils for $1.00. You need to plan to stock up for the whole year because these sales will not be back until next year.
Back To School Bashes
Take advantage of Back to School parties. Several were offered around us and my kids got backpacks and other school supplies for FREE. So check around for these parties and get some free supplies.
Take Advantage of Rewards Programs
Many stores have rewards program like CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc. I have found that lately they are offering school items for free using the rewards programs. Take advantage of these types of programs and get not only great deals but also some FREE supplies.
Use Coupons
I have found lots of coupons during back-to-school time on items like Kleenex and hand sanitizers. These are items many teachers put on their school list. Many stores also offer these items on sale during that time so match it with a coupon and get a great deal.
Take an Inventory
Look around your house for things you already have on-hand. Many items like notebooks can be used again the next year. Most are still in good shape. It might not be cool, but it sure will save money.
Keep Your Child at Home While Shopping
Don’t school shop with your child. Take the list and go by yourself. Your child will pester your to get those other cool supplies while you are shopping. Keeping them at home will save you money.
These are great tips. Oh the kids just love back-to-school shopping.. as much as possible I stick on my list of the items that they need but when all items are on sale, sometimes, you are just helpless. Good thing there are coupons. Saves a lot.
