An Honest Look at The Samsung POWERbot r7070
The wife’s least favorite chore in my house has always been cleaning the floor. With 6 kids, it has to be cleaned all the time and it is a big job. When my wife and I were first married, she told me she’d do all the chores except cleaning the floor — that was my job. So I did what any good husband would do — I bought a robotic vacuum. The first model we had ten years ago was not that impressive so when Samsung offered to send me their new POWERbot r7070, I was excited to give it a try.
I’ve always been a bit of a techie so when I’m asked to do chores around the house, my go-to is finding ways to use technology to get the job done. Over the years, I have bought many different forms of technology that promised to make household chores easier. My wife has not been impressed.
With 6 active kids and a dog any gadget that promises to clean the house has a tough job in store for it. When Samsung found out that we were a bit of a tough sell, they offered to send us their POWERbot r7070.
I was skeptical but never one to turn down a chance to play with a new toy, I told them that I was ready to give it a workout.
We’ve tried several robotic vacuums before, but in the end, my wife has always made me go back to using a traditional vacuum. The Samsung POWERbot r7070 made it clear, right from the start, that it was not like the robotic vacuums we had used before.
Where the POWERbot showed up, the house had just been vacuumed the day before with a vacuum that claims it doesn’t lose suction. IÂ thought, there is no way this robot is going to suck up anything. I hit the power button and prepared to be disappointed.
It was strangely relaxing watching it go to work, scanning obstacles and cleaning the room. My kids and I all sat down on the couch to watch it work.
It went under end tables, stopped before most kids toys (it did suck up a few small Lego bricks but they were easy to remove) and even used its edge tool to get right up next to the walls. It certainly looked impressive and maybe, just maybe, the room was looking cleaner.
When it was done, I opened the tank to see what this little robot had actually cleaned up. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to find what I did. The canister was packed full of stuff that my other vacuum didn’t pick up the day before.
I learned just how much my dog (and my wife) shed. The sheer amount of hair in this thing was absolutely insane.
I was convinced right then and there that the POWERbot r7070 could do the job it said it could.
Remember, this was only a day after using that “other vacuum”.
There was a ton of hair, dust and many other things that I honestly couldn’t identify. When Samsung says that the POWERbot r7070 has 40x’s more suction, they mean it! This vacuumed up more than I ever thought possible.
Since then, we’ve tested the POWERbot r7070 in every area of our home and I’m still impressed. Not only is it a great way to entertain my toddler twins, but my house is looking way cleaner than it used to without any extra effort.
Incorporating the POWERbot r7070 into your Smart Home
Now that I knew it could clean, it was time to add this real life maid to my smart home.
I downloaded the app, connected it to wifi, programmed it to turn on in the middle of the night and even added the skill to Alexa.
Now the POWERbot r7070Â turns on each night and roams the house, cleaning up after (and around) the messes my kids make each day.

I’ve discovered a great trick too. The Samsung POWERbot r7070 even gives my kids a reason to make sure they have their toys picked up before they go to bed, although most of the time the POWERbot has to deal with an obstacle course of toys because no matter how many times we clean, as soon as we turn around the toys are back.
I’ve used the smart home capabilities to my benefit during the day.  All I have to do it say “Alexa, vacuum the house” and the kids go scrambling to clean up their toys before the robot gets them. It’s definitely a keeper.
It even has a remote control if the kids want to clean the house by driving it around the house like an R/C car.
My wife has affectionally named the POWERbot, Rosie. Now if I could just get it to do 8 people’s laundry.
