How The Book of the Month Club Made Reading Exciting Again

Reading is one of the few things that I do just for me. The Book of the Month Club is the perfect subscription for anyone who loves to read. Each month you’ll choose 1 book from a curated list of 5 books, including great descriptions, excerpts, and reviews to help you decide which book you’ll enjoy the best.

I love to read but sometimes finding the next book is more of a hassle than its worth.
Last year I was in a reading slump. Life was busy. I had zero extra energy to hunt down a new book to read.
The Book of the Month Club changed all that and helped me rediscover my love of reading. This monthly subscription box lets you choose one of 5 books from a curated list and it has helped me uncover some of my favorite books.
I went from reading a book every once in a while to reading every single day. Now I’ve set a goal to read 100 books this year and I’m on track to hit that goal (check out what I read during January). The Book of the Month made reading exciting for me again. It gives me something to read when I don’t know where to start and introduces me to new book releases so that I feel like I’m finally back up to date on current reading trends.
Reading is such a serious stress-reliever for me. It’s no surprise to me that last-year felt super overwhelming. I wasn’t taking time for myself or giving myself an excuse to shut the world out with a book every once in a while.
Now I read every day and I anxiously look forward to my Book of the Month Club order each month. We even ordered a second Young Adut subscription for my teenagers.

How Does The Book of The Month Club Work
Each month The Book of the Month Club curates a list of 5 books. They always include a variety of genres and feature different reviewers so you get a great mix of books.
You choose your favorite book and they’ll ship out a hardcover copy to you, often before you can buy the book anywhere else.
Often they feature books I probably wouldn’t have grabbed on my own and I end up loving them. I’ve discovered some of my favorite books through my Book of The Month subscription and I love knowing that I’ll have a book show up in my mailbox and have something great to read, even when I don’t have time to hunt around for book recommendations.

One of my favorite things about their book selections is they include a quick take if you just want the basics, a much longer synopsis, and the reviewers take on the book. You can also read an excerpt from the book, which I love because sometimes the writing style can make or break a book for me.
They even include a visual guide that gives you a real quick overview of what you can expect in the book.

I really love that I can get a good feel for a book before I make my selection. For the last few months, I’ve been focusing on the quick take and the reviewer’s thoughts and ignoring the more in-depth synopsis because I like leaving the major plot points a mystery before I jump into the book.

Book of the Month YA

If you have kids who love to read (or if you just love YA fiction like I do), my family LOVES the Book of the Month YA subscription. I love reading YA fiction. It started when my kids were younger and I wanted to read the books they read so I knew what they were interested in and I found that I genuinely just liked the books.
The Book of the month YA subscription works the same as the regular BOTM club but it is a bit lower priced (at only $11.99 a month). You can get your first book for only $9.99 with the code “swoon” right now.
