Recipe: Cheeseburger Salad
Did you know that September 18th is National Cheeseburger Day?
No?
Well, it is. And you should totally celebrate.
We eat a lot of cheeseburgers around our house, which leads to a lot of leftovers. While I’m fine eating a burger the second day, sometimes you want something just a bit different than you had the day before.
Enter the cheeseburger salad. Super easy and packed full of protein.
I have weird kids and they actually beg for salad so this is an easy sale around our house and it makes for a really simple lunch.
Ingredients
- Romain lettuce
- Sliced mushrooms
- Shredded cheddar cheese (if you cooked your burgers with cheese on them, just slice them up and you have cheese covered burger slices in your salad)
- Croutons
- Optional: You could also add avocado, onions, tomatoes and anything else you like to put on your burgers
Preparation
Slice up your romain lettuce and wash it thoroughly. Toss it with the shredded cheese, sliced mushrooms, croutons and any additional toppings.
Heat your leftover burger patty and slice it into strips. Lay the strips over the top of your salad and enjoy.
This is wonderful with a nice, Â creamy ranch but you could also use italian dressing, honey mustard dressing, or whatever your personal favorite is.
