Weeknight dinners at my house have to be quick and easy. By the time dinnertime rolls around everyone is tired and cranky (and by everyone I mean ME). Quick dinners are pretty much the only way I survive Monday-Friday around here. Our schedule is nuts and dinnertime is the only real chance we have to slow down during the week.

Of course, that doesn’t mean I want to spend all my time cooking. I love shortcuts in the kitchen that help me serve the things my family loves without taking up a lot of my time in the evenings. Idahoan Mashed Potatoes come together so easily and they taste just like homemade. They are the perfect addition to any weeknight meal.

My kids know Salisbury steak as lazy hamburgers. They are quite honestly the easiest way to throw together ground beef. I used to mix things in and now I just squish them into patties and sprinkle them with grill seasoning.

It does not get easier than that.

We top these with a really quick and easy caramelized mushroom topping that (most of) my family loves (I’m still working on convincing a few kids that mushrooms are awesome). I always make extra of this because it tastes amazing scooped on top of our Idahoan Mashed Potatoes. I could honestly leave out the meat and just eat that.

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Easy Salisbury Steak Ingredients

  • Idahoan Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. Grill seasoning
  • 8 oz of mushrooms, quartered
  • 1 shallot, diced
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 tsp. dried Tarragon

Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Easy Salisbury Steak Preparation

This is such an easy meal to throw together. Start making your Idahoan Mashed Potatoes according to the directions on the package. We double this because everyone loves them so much.

Shape your hamburger into patties and sprinkle both sides with grill seasoning. Grill on med-high for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your preferred doneness.

After cooking, remove the hamburger patties from the grill pan and toss in your butter, quartered mushrooms, and diced shallots. Cook for 4-5 minutes until nice and caramelized.

Add the Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine.

Turn your attention to your Idahoan Mashed Potatoes. These come together fast on your stove top. Stir them up with a fork and let them sit for a few minutes then top with butter and dried tarragon.
