Homeschool on a Budget with Study.com

If you’re looking for an affordable homeschooling resource that covers all the major subjects plus some fun electives, Study.com is a great option. We first started using them when I was homeschooling while on bedrest with twins so I really needed a low-stress option. We kept using them because my kids kept finding things they loved learning on the platform. Even now that my kids have moved onto hybrid and public school option they are still using Study.com as a homework helper.
They’ve got classes for everything—math, science, history, language arts, you name it. They even have cool electives like foreign languages, computer programming, and art.
What I love about Study.com is its flexibility and that it takes zero prep ahead of time.
Kids can learn at their own pace, and it fits perfectly into any homeschooling schedule. Kids can even use the app to catch up on classes on the go when they need to.
What makes it a really affordable homeschool resource is you can pay one monthly subscription membership fee and have access to everything you need for all of your kids’ classes. Plus, their affordable subscription plans give you access to tons of video lessons, quizzes, and interactive tools that really make learning fun.

Using Study.com as a foundation for the rest of our homeschooling has saved us so much money. We knew we had the basics covered and we were able to add in any additional projects, field trips, and more that we wanted to do on the side.
What does an average day with Study.com look like?
If you are like most homeschooling families, you are homeschooling kids in multiple grade levels. We often stuck to a rough schedule and left plenty of room for flexibility.
Our average day often started with some reading time then each kid would jump into their core subject with Study.com. We tried to have each child work on the same subject at the same time if we could, only so it was easier for me to jump around and help them and keep my brain on the same topic.
I like to pull out plenty of supplements, depending on the subject. So for lower level math we had a box of hands-on math manipulatives that we’d pull out to help them as they worked through their math to help them understand the concepts.
My kids often pause the Study.com videos if they don’t understand the information so we can go over it together. We can rewind and watch a section over again if we need to or dive into the quizzes and supplemental material that Study.com offers. One of the things I love about the platform is how many different learning styles they cater to.
Once we finished our core subjects for the day I’d let my kids dive into an elective that they were interested in. This would often involve them using Study.com for a little while and then expanding into some offline activities to support what they did online. For example, my daughter loves some of their literature study guides but she spends time offline reading the books as she is working through those.
