How to Control your Cravings When you are Stressed
Thanks to Jenny Craig for sponsoring this post.
When we make healthy changes it can take just about everything we have. I’ve been making some major changes over the last few months.
If you’ve been following along, you know that Jenny Craig has been helping me take charge of my health and finally drop the weight from my twin pregnancy. I’m so excited at the progress I’ve made. For the first time in years, the scale is going the right direction.
I’m now in my 3rd month of Jenny Craig and I’m only a few pounds away from a 20-pound weight loss*. It seriously amazes me that I’ve been able to get to this point. I’m really starting to see the difference in my face now and I’ve lost over 6 inches around my waist.
*Results not typical. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs. per week. I received promotional consideration.
I realized the other day that it’s been weeks since a stranger has asked me when my baby was due and that right there is worth every moment of the last 3 months.
You can really see a difference in the before and after photos. I love seeing how much progress I have made. Knowing that I’m so close to my goals keeps me going.
That’s not to say I haven’t had some challenges. My family made an out of state move in the middle of my weight-loss journey so I didn’t pick the most convenient time to start losing weight. I’ve learned that if I want to make a change though, it’s now or never. There will always be an excuse and I was sick of the excuses.
Jenny Craig has made it so easy to stay committed to my weight-loss goals. Since I’ve moved, I’ve been using Jenny Craig Anywhere, a service that lets me meet with my consultant over the phone and ships food right to my door.
It’s so easy!
I’ve learned that my cravings have been the biggest issue preventing me from losing weight before.
Until I started really paying attention to what and how much I was eating, I had no idea how many extra calories I was consuming. I’ve learned a few tricks to help me control my cravings and keep my weight loss goals on track.
Snack often. I’m a snacker. I snack when I’m bored, tired, stressed, etc. One of the things I have loved about Jenny Craig is that I haven’t had to give up snacking. They’ve just taught me to be smart about what I choose. As part of my regular menu, I have 3 snacks a day. If I’m still feeling snacky (or tired, or stressed, or whatever) I also get unlimited free foods.
Free foods include non-starchy vegetables (without added fat), sugar-free sweets (like gelatin, gum, ice pops, etc.), certain beverages, and flavor enhancers.
I love that if I want to stress eat, I can. I just have to choose wisely.
Give into your Cravings. I realize that this probably goes against everything that you think you should be doing while losing weight. For me, it has been a huge key to my success. I can cut out all the foods I love but that usually results in some serious binge eating a few days later.
With Jenny Craig, I get a treat at the end of every night. I’m a bit addicted to their Chocolate Lava Cake. I look forward to that little treat and knowing that it’s portioned out for me so I can’t overeat helps me to say goodbye to the guilt and enjoy my treat.
Always have a snack on you. My cravings are the worst when I let myself get too hungry. With Jenny Craig, my meals are planned out and spread nicely through the day so my blood sugar generally doesn’t dip and cause those insane cravings.
There have been a few times where I’ve been running errands that have taken longer than I thought they would and found myself seriously considering that drive-through line. What saves me in those moments is keeping a small snack in my purse. I’ve been keeping a Jenny Craig Anytime Bar in my purse. When I eat that with a glass of water it tides me over until I can get home and have a real meal and it saves me from making a bad food choice.
I’ve loved seeing the progress I’ve made with Jenny Craig. I had almost given up trying to lose weight before this. I was so fed up that nothing I did seemed to make any difference.
What made it really work for me is how simple it is to follow. Everything is laid out for you.
Jenny Craig has actually ranked in the top 3 (out of over 35 reviewed) for best weight-loss diets according to the US News Best Diets rankings—in the top 3 since they launched in 2011.
I never would have believed it a year ago if you had told me I would be at the weight I am at today. It was a goal that felt unreachable. I already passed my first goal I set for myself and now I’m going strong towards the next one.
I’m hoping to be at the weight I was before my twins were born by the end of the month and then it’s time to set a new goal.
I may be able to get rid of my twin pregnancy weight and start making some progress towards the weight I gained with my other pregnancies if I can keep this up!
