Gift Ideas for Tween Boys

Tween boys are at an in-between stage where they aren’t into most toys but they are still young enough that they want something fun. These gift ideas for tween boys are sure to be a hit!

HP Sprocket 2-in-1

HP Sprocket 2-in-1

For tweens, documenting their time with friends and family can be so much fun. The new HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is the perfect way to introduce tweens to photography. This cute little camera not only takes great photos, but your tween can print the photos directly from the camera. HP even makes awesome sticky backed photo paper so your tween can turn his favorite photos into stickers.

I know I’m terrible about actually printing the photos that I take. My kids love to put their photos on display though. The HP Sprocket 2-in-1 is a great way for kids to get their photos out of the camera and out where they can enjoy them. You can find the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 here.

Lego Architecture Building SetsLego Architecture Sets

I’m not sure you ever get too old to build with Lego bricks, but tween boys are starting to outgrow some of the younger sets.

The Lego architecture series is a great way to help them hold onto their favorite toy just a bit longer and they make pretty amazing bedroom decorations for tween boys too!

We love the New York City Skyline set but also check out the London Skyline, The United States Capital Building, and the Eiffle Tower.

Snap Circuit Arcade Kit

Snap Circuits ArcadeWe’ve mentioned in the past just how much we love the Snap Circuits kits. We have several in my house and all my kids have loved playing with them.

The Snap Circuits Arcade Kit is designed for kids ages 8-15 and is so much fun for tween boys. This kit includes over 200 projects tweens can make and would be such a great gift to put under the tree this year.

Pokemon CardsPokemon cards

If your tween is into trading Pokemon cards, you can’t go wrong with a new set of cards.

My boys love to take these to school and trade them during recess. They have a lot of fun collecting them and playing with them with friends. These make great stocking stuffers too, if you need something small.

Popular MechanicsMagazines

Magazines are a great way to get, even reluctant readers, reading. We love Boys’ Life, Sports Illustrated Kids, Popular Mechanics, and Car & Driver.

Find out what your tween boy is interested in. Chances are you can find a magazine subscription that he’d love.

My 11 year old loves animals and science so we are looking into options like National Geographic Kids and Ask.

Exploding Kittens Game for tweensExploding Kittens Game

I don’t know if it’s the name of this or the game itself but my tween boys think this game is hilarious. They love playing this together as a family and we take it with us when we travel because it’s so easy to pull out when we are away from home. My kids will sit down and play this with their friends. The game always ends in giggles.

Nerf gun for tweensNerf N-Strike Elite AccuStrike RaptorStrike

Nerf guns don’t ever really get old. Even my teenager loves to play with them still.

If you want to take your Nerf game up a notch, these AccuStrike darts are more accurate than standard Nerf darts.

Tweens love using them in backyard Nerf battles.

Create your own BBQ SauceCreate your Own BBQ Sauce

If you have a tween who loves to cook, this DIY BBQ Sauce kit is a unique option.

My kids love getting creative in the kitchen and they are always willing to be braver about the foods that they try if they had a hand in making them. This kit lets kids create their own special recipe. Includes supplies to make up to 14 cups of sauce!

Stickbot StudioStickbot Studio

Have your kids discovered Stickbots?

These make it super easy to make your own stop motion videos and tween boys have a blast with them.

This cute set includes a studio and a few Stickbots. You can use the free app to create videos.

This is so much fun for kids to do with friends.

Loog Guitar for kidsLoog Electric Guitar

If your tween has wanted to learn how to play the guitar but is a bit intimidated by the process, the Loog guitar for kids is the perfect option.

This 3-string guitar comes with an app that gets kids playing right away. They can later transfer the skills they learned to a traditional guitar.

True Balance GameTrue Balance Coordination Game

This is kind of like the ultimate fidget spinner. Even I have fun playing with this game.

It’s such a great way to focus your attention. Each disc is loaded with magnets that rotate on a single axis so this is a great STEM activity for tween boys too!

Books for tween boys

Books

You can never go wrong with books. There are some great books for tween boys. This year, we are loving Norse Myths, for kids who have a love of super heros and want to get to the facts behind the stories. Knightology is the newest in the popular -ology line of books and is sure to be a hit.

For tweens who like knowing a bit about everything, A World of Information is a really interesting read and it has some amazing illustrations. Harry Potter fans will love Harry Potter. Magical Film Projections: Quidditch. This book lets tweens project their favorite scenes from the movies on walls using a flashlight.

For Harry Potter fans, we love these books to read after you finish the series.

No Stress ChessNo Stress Chess

If your tween likes strategy games, there’s nothing better than Chess. Maybe your tween is already a master of the game and would like a nice wooden chess board. If your tween is still learning, this No Stress Chess game is a great way to learn to play.

The board is 2-sided so once your tween learns the basics, he can flip the board over and play without support.

Star Wars Droid Inventor KitStar Wars Droid Inventor Kit

Named the hottest toy of the year, this Star Wars Droid Inventor Kit is a fantastic STEM toy for tween boys. If you have a Star Wars fan, this is sure to be a huge hit.

This includes 16+ missions that your tween can teach the droid new skills.

This toy has been winning awards left and right and may be hard to find as we get closer to Christmas.

Sofa Sack for TweensSofa Sack Bean Bag Chair

My tween boys love to camp out and read in a comfy place so a bean bag chair is a great option and makes a great gift.

These aren’t technically “bean” bags. They are filled with memory foam bits so they are extra soft.

These are perfect for adding some extra seating in your tweens room or making a comfy spot to watch movies together as a family.

Telescope for tweensTelescope for Beginners

Astronomy is so interesting and it is never too early to start learning. This telescope for beginners is the perfect way to introduce kids to the amazing things out there in our universe.

Pair this with this book about things you can see with a small telescope and you have some amazing family adventures in your future.

There are so many great tween boy gift ideas. As a general rule, I always look for gifts that help my tweens develop new interests, spend time with friends and family, or give them something that makes their everyday life more fun. You can’t go wrong with any of these tween boy gift ideas.

My nephew opened his Pokémon cards and kept playing with them for a long time. They, along with the coloring book and related Pokémon products, are helping him to learn more in reading.
