Hands-On Play with Bunchems (Plus a Giveaway!)
Finding things that keep my preschooler occupied can be tricky. She likes things that are very hands-on, and if I don’t give her something that holds her attention she will be sure and find something else that does . . . like coloring on the walls.
This week was especially challenging. With our schedule packed, it left my toddler bored since all the big people in the house were busy trying to get things done.
Bunchems came to the rescue with a hands-on activity that she was thrilled with. Bunchems was awarded the 2016 Toy of the Year Award for Activities and it was the perfect thing to save a dull afternoon.
Bunchems are fun little colorful balls that stick to each other and can be used to build incredible creations.
The Bunchems Alive kit takes things to a whole new level by adding motorized action so your creation can jump and wiggle around when you are done. You can expand your options by using the Bunchems Mega Pack if you want to get a bit more creative.
Before creating with Bunchems, make sure your hair is pulled back, away from your face to avoid getting Bunchems in your hair. Check out some other safety recommendations here before you get started.
We worked on a solid surface so I knew the balls wouldn’t get stuck in my carpet but really, it was way easier than working with something like paint where I know everything my kids touch is going to be permanently orange. Cleanup with these was a breeze since they stuck together and we didn’t have to worry about messy hands.
The Bunchems balls are kind of fun to play with. I had just as much fun squishing them around and building with them as my 4 year old did . . . at least until she made me give them back.
For what it’s worth, this could totally pass for a stress reliving activity for mom if you need a little something to distract you . . .
Bunchems Alive came with some project ideas to get you started. My boys wanted to jump in and create a crazy monster without looking at the instructions. My daughter is obsessed with following directions so she wanted to stick with one of the project ideas. It would be great if that love of directions carried over into the rest of her life but, unfortunately, it stops when the project ends.
I loved that the Bunchems balls stuck together so easily. At 4 years old, a lot of projects frustrate my daughter. It was nice to see her so engaged minus the frustration.
In the end, we had a cute little project finished. We enjoyed watching it bounce around when we turned the motor on and when we were done, we could take it apart and have the pieces ready to go for the next project.
