Healthy Snacks your Kids will Actually Want to Eat
Thanks to Musselman’s for sponsoring this post.Â
Getting kids to eat healthy food can be challenging. I know if there is any junk food in my house, my kids are sure to find it.
I’ve found that I can make healthy options more fun than junk food by jazzing up our snacks a bit. These healthy snacks are not only so good that your kids will want to eat them, they are so good that my kids choose them over junk food!
If your house is anything like mine, my kids ask for a snack as soon as they walk in the house from anywhere. They could go out to check the mail and they’ll be asking for food when they walk back in the door!
Having some healthy (and fun) snacks ready to go helps me make sure they are getting some good nutrition in when they snack.
Healthy Snacks Kids will Love
The secret to a great snack is to make sure you have a fun twist. I’ve found that by jazzing things up just a bit, my kids will eat just about anything I put in front of them.
These are some of our favorite healthy snacks.
BONUS: They are super quick to prepare so you can grab them fast when you have hungry kids.
Carrots and hummus
Dip makes everything more exciting. There are plenty of fattening dips to use for veggies, but I love using hummus as a veggie dip. It’s packed with protein and fiber and my kids love it. It did take a bit of getting used to for them but once they tried it they couldn’t get enough.
Try topping your hummus with diced cucumbers, cheese, or pine nuts.
Sour Applesauce
Sour flavors aren’t just for the candy aisle. My kids love anything sour so they were thrilled to try the new Musselman’s Squeezables Sours Apple Sauce.
These come in some great flavors including, Sour Lemon, Sour Cherry, and Sour Raspberry.
My kids think this is a treat so they love it. It has the sour flavors they love and comes in a fun, squeezable pouch.
As a mom, I love that it has no artificial flavors, no high fructose corn syrup, is GMO free, and is made with 100% American grown-apples. It’s pretty much the perfect snack.
I can throw these in my kids’ school lunches or have them ready for a quick after school snack and my kids are thrilled.
I’ve tried them myself and they are pretty tasty. It’s a fun way to change things up when you aren’t in the mood for something too sweet.
Musselman’s Squeezables Sours Apple Sauce is available in the apple sauce aisle at many local grocery stores

Apples and Peanut Butter
Fresh apples are always a fabulous treat but pair them with peanut butter (or almond butter) and you have a fantastic treat. We change things up every once in a while by drizzling honey over the peanut butter before dipping or making our favorite creamy peanut butter dip to go with our apples.
Mini Sandwich Rollups
You can throw together a quick snack by rolling pieces of turkey or ham and sliding a toothpick through them. Throw on some cheese, cucumbers, or bread cubes to finish things off.
My kids love these fun little finger foods. Sometimes we’ll spread cream cheese on the inside of the turkey before we roll it up to make things extra yummy.
Flavored Nuts
Flavors nuts are a great, quick snack that keeps kids full for a long time. You can buy pre-seasoned nuts or it is easy to make your own. Some of our favorites are Mexican Spiced Chocolate Almonds or almonds roasted with just a bit of liquid smoke and our favorite grill seasoning.
Whatever your kids are in the mood for, there’s always a way to find a healthy snack option that they love. I try and keep several of these in the kitchen so they are ready to grab when we are in a hurry. It doesn’t take much prep work to have a full week’s worth of healthy snacks ready to go.
