How to Help Fill in Nutritional Gaps
This is a sponsored conversation written by me for compensation by Bayer. The opinions and text are all mine.
Making sure your family gets the nutrition that they need is a constant challenge. With 6 kids and a busy schedule, there are definitely times when we have gaps in our nutrition. Finding simple ways to help fill in nutritional gaps, such as taking Bayer One A Day® and Flintstones® multivitamins helps me make sure that my family gets key nutrients they may need.

I try to eat well and feed my kids a balanced diet, but the reality is, life is crazy and sometimes our meals don’t go according to plan. Having nutritional gaps in your diet can leave you feeling less than your best. Even when you try to do your best, there are just times when you need more key nutrients, like vitamins A, C, D, & E. One A Day and Flintstones multivitamins can help fill this gap and give you confidence that you are giving your family what they may need.

With 6 kids in my house, there is always someone who isn’t happy with whatever is served at mealtime. I don’t make separate meals for my kids because I want to encourage them to try new foods, but I also don’t want them to miss out on any key nutrients. Fortunately, they love taking Flintstones multivitamins so even on those days when they may not have eaten the best that they could have I know that they are getting key nutrients they may need.
What do you do to fill in nutritional gaps?
Eat the rainbow. Eating well doesn’t have to be complicated. Aim for a wide variety of brightly colored foods at each meal. I find that talking about eating the rainbow makes it more concrete for my kids. They love seeing how many different colors they can get on their plates and sometimes it even encourages my picky eaters to try something new.

Be an example. This has made such a huge difference in my house. My kids want to eat everything that I eat, no matter what it is. If I’m eating a good variety of nutritious foods, they generally want to do the same. Of course, the opposite is true too, so I have to watch my own eating habits because I know that they are watching me. I always feel much better about my choices when my kids mimic my good eating habits instead of my bad ones. Without fail, if I’m eating a bowl of grapes, a handful of nuts, or some fresh carrots, at least one of my kids will come in and want some of their own. I’ve made it a challenge to myself to help them crave good foods as often as I can.
Smoothies. With kids, especially when you have picky eaters, I find that smoothies are such a great way to get them to eat foods they usually wouldn’t touch. Even my pickiest eater will happily drink a green smoothie without giving a second thought to what is in it. If you need to, start slowly with an assortment of fruits that your child likes then slowly add greens and other veggies.
Supplement to fill in the gaps. I’m a huge fan of using supplements to help fill in nutritional gaps. There are always going to be things that we miss in our diets and it makes me feel so much better knowing that my family is getting key nutrients they may need. One A Day offers some fantastic options for men and women. I love that they have different formula options that help me know that both my husband and I are getting the key nutrients we may need. I include my vitamins in my morning routine and take them with breakfast each day. My kids absolutely love taking Flintstones multivitamins and it helps that they come in both the Flintstones Complete Chewable Tablets and Flintstones Complete Gummies. It’s probably one of the few things that I don’t have to fight them on, which makes my life so much easier. I encourage them to take their vitamins at breakfast every morning. They usually take them first, which is good because they are usually rushing out the door before they finish their entire breakfast.

You can find One A Day vitamins and Flintstones multivitamins at Walmart. I stock up when I buy groceries each week. You can find them in the vitamin aisle at your local store.

Make things even easier on yourself with Online Grocery Pickup & Delivery services (seriously, if you have not tried this yet it will make your life so much easier). I love finding easy ways to make sure that my family gets the nutrition that they need. Life gets busy. There’s no way getting around that. Making sure that we have the basics covered even when things are a bit hectic is so important to me as a mom.
