How to Keep Your House Clean with Pets
Thank you to Best Buy for sponsoring this post.
If you have inside pets, you know the struggle trying to keep your house clean with pets. My family has 2 dogs and several birds and when you add kids into the mix, trying to keep the house clean can seem like a losing battle. These tricks will help you keep your house clean with pets.

Brush your dog regularly
We have two dogs, including a Golden Retriever. We aren’t strangers to pet hair. Make cleanup easier by brushing your dog regularly. Use a good brush designed to grab loose hairs on your pet so you can tackle the fur before it ends up on your couch or floor.
In my house, we’ve assigned brushing the dog as a kid chore and we try to do it at least every other day. This significantly cuts down on the dog hair in my home.
Buy a great Multi-Surface Cleaner

Keeping your floors clean when you have kid and pet traffic can be a major challenge.
The new BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max is the perfect tool for tackling pet messes. It is safe to use on tile, sealed wood floors, laminate, linoleum, rubber floor mats, pressed wood floors, and more. I love the self-cleaning cycle because it helps to maintain the machine’s cleaning performance by cleaning the brush roll and inside of the CrossWave.
It even has improved edge cleaning to help you easily pick-up pet hair that gathers along baseboards and in corners of your home.
My home feels so much cleaner when the floors are clean. Having a tool that helps me vacuum and wash at the same time saves so much time.

Limit Pets to certain areas in your home
Admittedly, I’m not great at this because our dogs go pretty much everywhere that we do, but we do have certain rooms in our home that they know are off-limits. My son’s bedroom is often used for guests so the dogs do not go in there. They also avoid my little girls’ bedrooms because one of our dogs tends to chew small toys so she is not allowed in there.
If you have anyone in your home with allergies or want to make pet cleanup easier, limiting your pets to areas with hard flooring or one level of the home can make messes easier to stay on top of.
Lay blankets on furniture
If you allow your pets on furniture, it can be very helpful to lay a blanket on top or another washable cover so that you can refresh things when needed. Couches are much more difficult to clean than throwing a blanket in the wash so I like having that extra layer in the places where our pets go.
You can have a clean home with pets. Staying on top of messes and cleaning regularly can help keep your home clean and sanitary.
