How to Make a Dog Sweater from a Knit Cap
You may not know, so this come as a shock to you, but I have random conversations with strangers a lot. On this particular day I was chatting with a woman who was looking for clothes for her elderly pet. She has an aging female Chihuahua and told me she has made her sweaters out of knitted caps from the dollar store.
Say what?
It’s been cold and my dog doesn’t like the weather to be too cold or too wet. Since the dollar store was two doors down and I was looking for a sweater that didn’t make my dog look like a girl, I spent $2 and whipped up two sweaters!
Okay, admittedly the first one is not quite what I envisioned, but on the other hand, there’s a learning curve and if Monkey ever decides to go goth or emo, he’s all set.
Take a knit cap and cut off the very tip. Place it over your dog’s head so you can tell where the leg holes will go. Snip with scissors to create the holes and voila!
Your puppy is no longer cold! If you have a boy puppy, fold the bottom of the sweater in. If you want, you can throw in a few fast stitches to hold it, so far, mine seems okay.
Monkey models the sweater. You don’t know what it took to stop him laying down again! |
Simple, easy and now I have that hard-to-find boy sweater |
Monkey says ‘Yeah, I’m warm! And incredibly handsome.’ |
