Are you planning a trip? I love to travel, but things definitely get interesting when you are traveling with kids. We have some great tips to help you stay organized while traveling, including our free printable travel planner that will make your trip so much easier.
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do but it is also one of the things that causes me the most stress. I love traveling once I hit the road. All the prep work, especially when you are traveling with kids, is just overwhelming to me.
When my boys were little, I used to load the car up with everything I could think of that we might possibly need. It was overwhelming and didn’t actually simplify our trips at all.
Now, I try and pack the bare minimum, but make sure that all our bases are covered. With less stuff to deal with on our trip, I find that I can enjoy it more.
The trick is, you have to have the stuff you need.

I enjoy my trips so much more when I start off organized. Having a checklist helps me so much with that. There’s nothing worse than getting to your destination and realizing you forgot something important.
I keep a checklist for each person traveling. It makes it easier for me to keep track of what has already been packed and what still needs to go in the suitcase.
My older kids are usually in charge of packing their own bags when we travel. I do spot-check their bags before we go, but I don’t go through every item in their bag. I trust them to take on that responsibility and make sure they have the essentials. Giving each of them a checklist so they don’t forget anything is so helpful for everyone and a great life skill for them to develop.

We have gotten very used to packing for a crowd. When traveling with a large family, you have to at least start a trip organized. We have a few tools we like to use to keep our suitcases organized and stay on top of things while we travel. These are some of the things we won’t leave the house without.
