How to Manage your Cash Flow During the Holiday Season
Thank you PayPal and Walmart for sponsoring this post. Introducing PayPal cash in and cash out money services, the financial services alternative which allows you to manage your PayPal account and cash flow needs on your own terms!
Managing your cash flow can be a challenge any time of year, but it is especially challenging during the holiday season. We have some tips that will help you manage your cash flow so you can enjoy the holiday season with your family, stress-free.
I love buying gifts for family and friends but the holiday season definitely comes with some cash flow issues. Unless you are independently wealthy, the holidays often require a bit of creativity when it comes to finances.
I’m a big fan of shopping within your means during the holiday season, so paying attention to your cash flow is a must. There’s nothing worse than waking up the morning after Christmas and regretting spending too much on holiday purchases.
I’ve had years where my kids didn’t even play with some of their holiday gifts because we went a bit overboard. I’m trying to remember that this year and scaling way back. This year, the focus is on quality over quantity.
Keeping your holiday cash flow in check can give you the ability to enjoy the holiday season with your family in a way that you won’t be able to if you are stressed about finances.
These tips help me keep my holiday cash flow under control and make the holiday season more enjoyable:
Use PayPal’s Cash in And Cash Out Service
If you are like me, you use PayPal for just about everything during the holidays. PayPal makes it easy for me to pay for gifts while shopping online or send and receive money from family and friends.
Now, PayPal is making it even easier to access your cash right away with the PayPal cash in and cash out money services exclusively at Walmart stores. When you need cash (or need some extra funds in your PayPal account right away), you can visit any Walmart (US locations only).
I frequently have friends and family send me money through PayPal during the holidays, either to have me pick up a gift for someone or to split the bill when we head out for a night out to eat with friends. It used to take several days for me to be able to access those funds but now I can have access right away when I need to. PayPal Cash Mastercard customers can pay bills or make purchases anywhere “Mastercard” is accepted and access their balance using Walmart Service Desks, ATMs, and cash registers for the low fee of $3 per service.
I’m a big fan of simplifying the holidays whenever possible and PayPal is helping to simplify cash flow during the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year.

Space holiday purchases out.
I have a family of eight. Between the presents I buy for my family and anything I purchase for extended family or friends, that’s a lot of shopping. One of the best things I do to manage my holiday cash flow is space my holiday purchases out. I start buying gifts early in the fall and buy a few things here and there until I have everything I need.
It is much easier to fit a few extra gifts into my weekly budget than it is to purchase everything on my list for a family of eight. Budget a certain amount of money per paycheck to spend on holiday gifts and you can avoid buying everything at once.
Budget for the holidays monthly
The holidays come every year, without fail. The best way to prepare is to decide on your holiday budget at the beginning of the calendar year and divide that total out by 12 months. Each month, set aside that amount of money and save it in a separate account. This method of dividing out your holiday expenses will mean that cash flow won’t be an issue by the time the holiday season rolls around again
It is very tempting to borrow from your holiday fund throughout the year, but remember how much stress this fund will save you when it comes time to pay for holiday expenses.
