One Simple Thing you Can Do To Protect your Family’s Future
We don’t like to think about what would happen to our family in the event of a major medical emergency or, worse, an unexpected death.
Like most people, I prefer to avoid thinking about that tough subject until I am forced to.
The reality is, though, a little advanced planning can go a long way towards making sure your family is protected so, even though it may be a difficult subject, it’s well-worth a bit of time and attention so you are prepared in the event of the unexpected.
Unexpected medical issues and unexpected deaths may come with a huge financial price-tag. That can be overwhelming to a family who is already dealing with grief or trying to recover. Fortunately, there is something you can do to make sure your family is protected financially.
Look into your supplemental insurance and benefits coverage.Â
Major medical insurance may not cover every expense. Anyone who has dealt with major medical bills (or even small ones) can tell you that.
Aflac offers fantastic supplemental insurance policies that are designed to complement your major medical insurance.
They fill in the holes in your health care coverage and cover costs like:
- Deductibles
- Out-of-Pocket expenses associated with accident or illness
Unlike major medical insurance, Aflac pays cash directly to you so you can focus on getting better and not be overwhelmed by financial worries.
A few years ago, my family had a rough year medically.
I was pregnant with twins and the pregnancy was high risk. I was put on bedrest early on and was unable to work, care for my home or kids without help. We had extra medical bills as well as the expense of childcare and cleaning help while we did everything we could to try and get our twins here healthy.
A few months after our twins were born, our toddler nearly drowned during a pool party and was life-flighted to a nearby hospital.
Fortunately, everyone was okay in the end but we were left with a stack of bills that were a bit overwhelming.
We learned our lesson after that experience. We had great major medical insurance, but supplemental insurance would have drastically decreased our stress level during what was already a difficult time.
Now is the perfect time to review your supplemental insurance options.
With kids heading back-to-school and a big push to get the rest of your house in order after a hectic summer, you can add supplemental insurance to your list and help get you prepared in every area that needs attention.
What I really love about supplemental insurance is that you can pick the insurance policy that fits your current stage of life. Your needs change over time so this really lets you decide what you and your family need.
Aflac has several policies that are worth looking into, including:
- Accident insurance
- Short-term disability insurance
- Critical illness insurance
- Cancer insurance
- Hospital indemnity insurance
- Life insurance
