Pregnancy Guide – Week 30
It might seem early, but as I have said time and time again throughout this guide – planning now will save your time later. And now is a great time to get your baby announcements in order. Once your bundle of joy makes their grand entrance, you do not want to be spending a bunch of time making baby announcements. And even if you choose to buy pre-made, fill-ins or personalized ones, it is important to start looking now so that you can find just want you want when it comes times to order. You also do not want to run the risk of not being able to locate enough of the ones that you want. I do realize that if you have chosen to not discover the gender of your baby, it might be difficult to pick out an announcement, however there are plenty of gender neutral announcements that can be prepped now and then have a pink or blue or purple or green ribbon attached. You also want to start getting your mailing list together. It is a perfect time to update your address book with the correct addresses. If you are on a tight budget you might consider sending postcard style announcement, which cost less individually, as well as require less postage. You will want to take the time to address them all now so that they will be ready to go, as well as put postage on them (remember to do forever stamps, just in case there is a rate increase in the mean time). Here are some tips for announcing baby’s arrival:
1. Make sure you include all the vitals that everyone asks – weight, length, date, name (the whole thing)
2. Photos are always a bonus so if you have the means include a photo of the new baby. You really don’t have to spend the money on professional photographs, you can take a photo at home, just a close-up of the cherub’s beautiful face and then use a clear address label to put the baby’s name and birthdate in the corner of the photo.
3. Consider the thickness of your cards. Ribbons and buttons can be very cute but they can also cost more to ship. If the envelope can not pass through the automated postal machines it will require more postage.
