Quick and Healthy Turkey Chili

It doesn’t get much better than homemade chili! Homemade chili is one of my favorite weeknight dinners in the fall and winter and thanks to Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey I get to share my favorite chili recipe with you! It’s classic comfort food and it makes fantastic leftovers so I can usually get away without cooking again for a few days.
This is my family’s favorite chili recipe and it uses ground turkey instead of beef so it’s a bit leaner (93% lean) and still a great source of protein. My kids love to top this with shredded cheese, sour cream, and sometimes diced avocado. Also, ketchup. They put ketchup on pretty much everything.
We used Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey in this. It’s USDA Certified Organic, antibiotic free and locally grown in California. I love it when I can find foods that are from my local area. It always feels good to support local farmers and when food doesn’t have to travel as far it tastes so much fresher.
We found Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey at Costco (with a family of 8 we buy pretty much everything at Costco) but you can also find it at select supermarkets in CA, WA and OR.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of Foster Farms Organic Ground Turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 bell peppers, diced – I like using lots of different colors here.
- 1 can of pinto beans
- 1 can of black beans
- 1 can of kidney beans
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup tomato paste
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- aleppo pepper (or crushed red pepper)
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 4 cups water
Instructions
Brown your turkey then add your seasoning, diced onion, and diced pepper. Cook for a few minutes to let the veggies soften.
Add in all your beans, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and water.
Let this simmer on medium for 20-30 minutes or until it starts to thicken up.
Serve this with a side of cornbread or a salad. It makes an amazing dinner and we usually have enough left over for lunch and/or dinner the next day too!
