If you are looking at using Study.com to supplement your child’s education or as part of a homeschool curriculum it can be an amazing tool. As a parent, I’ve been really impressed by just how many different topics kids can explore using the platform.
We’ve used Study.com with elementary school and high school kids and I’ve been equally impressed with the options we’ve seen for both. Younger elementary school grade levels don’t have as many classes to choose from (and that age group isn’t as likely to sit through an online lesson anyway).
Every course my kids have worked through has been very thorough. The only real negative is that if you only use Study.com, kids are missing out on more hands-on activities so I’d recommend adding writing assignments and hands-on projects if you are solely using Study.com.
Study.com is a subscription service so you have full access as long as you are subscribed. I have canceled several times in the past when we’ve taken a break and the process was pretty straight forward. Just be sure to set a reminder if you are taking advantage of the free trial and don’t want to be billed when your trial is over.
Overall Opinion on Study.com?
Study.com has well-qualified teachers creating content and the information is well-organized so kids get a good overview of each topic. Some kids love online learning and others don’t so you’ll have to evaluate your kids’ individual needs.
My teens love using Study.com when they have specific homework questions or want to explore a subject that is not offered in school. The ACT test prep we’ve used has been fantastic and they even offer college and career development options.
My family has had a great experience with Study.com and it’s definitely something I’d recommend to homeschooling families or families who want to supplement their child’s education.
