Should your Teen Be Wearing a Safety ID?
Sometimes I miss the days before my kids were old enough to be in school or have a social life and we could just curl up at home with a book.
These days, my kids are constantly running one direction or another and, as a mom, it stresses me out thinking about all the things that could happen them while they are away.
My oldest is a teenager now and he’s all over the place. He carries a phone but I worry about someone being able to contact me if he was unable to communicate. Each year over 450,000 people are taken to hospitals unconscious and without ID.
I hate thinking that he would ever be in that situation but after losing a family member in a car accident and experiencing the delay that happens when emergency personal don’t know who to contact right away, it’s a concern.
That’s where Road ID comes in.
Road ID makes ID bracelets, originally designed for athletes who are at risk of an injury while away from home, but they are also great for so many other things.
As a mom, I’m hopeful that it will keep me notified if anything happens to my teen while he is away from home.
Edward Wimmer, one of the co-owners of Road ID said,
The inspiration for Road ID was born in the fall of 1999. For my father, the inspiration was his concern for me as I trained for my first marathon. For me, the inspiration was a black, King Kong size pick-up truck that I nearly came face to face with on a long Saturday run.
I totally get where his dad was coming from. Having your kids (no matter how old they are) out and about can be scary.
Road ID has some great options to choose from so you can customize your ID exactly the way you want.
My teen wears an Apple Watch all the time. I knew if I gave him something extra to wear he’d probably just leave it at home so I was excited to see that Road ID had a version designed to fit on an Apple Watch band.
I love how unobtrusive it is. It doesn’t get in his way or overly stand out so I know my son is actually going to wear it.
That means I get to feel confident that I’ll know right away if something happens to him.
They also make Road IDs for many popular fitness bands including, FitBit, as well as stand alone ID bracelets.
I love knowing my son has ID on him, just in case.
Do you have younger kids who wander? I grabbed a second Road ID for my daughter to wear when we go to amusement parks and other crowded places. She doesn’t know my phone number so I like knowing she can contact us if she gets lost.
Road ID even has cute little badges you can add to the band so I grabbed a few girly ones for her and now she thinks it is a bracelet! It’s durable and fashionable and perfect for everyone from athletes to little girls who tend to wander.
Between 11/19 and 11/23, take advantage of two special offers! When you buy one Road ID product, you’ll get each additional Road ID product for 50% off! Additionally, for every $20 gift card purchase, an extra $5 will be loaded to the gift card, while supplies last!
