The Trick to Awesome Hair After Pregnancy
The only thing I miss about being pregnant is the hair.
Pregnancy hair is awesome. Post-partum hair is . . . well, not so awesome.
I’m two years out after having my twins and my hair still haven’t recovered. I was excited when Toppik Hair Building Fibers offered to sponsor this post so I could share a cool new trick I learned that will help you have awesome hair even if your hair is on the thin side.
My part line is so thin that I have to put sunblock on my scalp every time I go outside or it burns.
It’s a far cry from that super thick pregnancy hair. I may have been too sick to do anything while I was pregnant but at least I had my amazing hair to make me feel better.
So how do you get your hair to look nice and full again after pregnancy?
I try to stick to a few basic rules:
- Wash your hair every other day. My hair gets really oily after having a baby so I can’t go more than every other day but washing your hair daily can be really drying on your hair. Hair tends to break when it is dry so wash as infrequently as possible.
- Drink plenty of water. I’ve decided that drinking more water is pretty much the solution to all of life’s problems. Your hair will look and feel so much better if you are drinking enough water. If you are breastfeeding, this can be an extra challenge because you’ll need to drink even more.
- Don’t brush your hair while it is wet. I have a problem with broken, flyaway hairs. My hair just seems to want to break, which doesn’t really help matters when I already have thin hair and a very thin part line. Hair is weaker when it is wet so if you avoid brushing it and styling it while wet you can help prevent broken hair.
Sometimes you need a little extra though.
I just discovered Toppik Hair Building Fibers.
This is a cool product made of colored keratin protein that is designed to blend perfectly with your existing hair strands to create the appearance of thicker hair. Keratin fibers are the made of the same protein that makes up human hair, so it is a really cool way to give the appearance of thicker hair in areas that are thinner like your part line.
You can even use Toppik Hair Building Fibers to touch up your roots between hair appointments so it’s a great tool for new moms to have in their toolbox!
I’m dysfunctional when it comes to my hair. I rarely do anything with it and I tend to screw things up so I needed something super simple for my hair.
Toppik Hair Building Fibers were incredibly easy to use.
To use it, you dry and style your hair as usual then shake or spray (using the Toppik applicator) the hair building fibers into any areas of your hair that are thinner.
Finish with Toppik FiberHold spray for longer-lasting results.
That’s it!
I was amazed at what a difference it made and it only added a few minutes to my morning routine.
Check out what my thin hairline looked like before.
This is what my hair looked like afterwards:
I feel like my hair line is so much less visible afterwards and my hair just looked so much healthier.
Toppik is designed to work on all hair types and textures and washes right out with shampoo so it’s perfect for when you need to jazz up your hair for a special event.
You choose one of the nine shades (or mix a few of them) so you can perfectly match your hair color.
I love that there is a simple solution that helps my thin hair look so much thicker.
