How to Cook Baked Potatoes in the Crockpot
I’m short on time lately. We added twins to our family and moved in the same summer and I feel like I’m going to be playing catchup forever. I know I’ll get there eventually but right now it feels like we are treading water. It goes without saying that dinner time is a simple affair around here at the moment. I’m staying far away from Pinterest and focusing on quick and easy meals, preferably ones that are easy enough my older kids can help put them together.
A baked potato bar is one of my go-to meals when we don’t have a lot of time to devote to meal prep so it’s one that frequents our table a lot right now. Cooking baked potatoes in the crockpot is one of the easiest ways to make them and takes only a few minutes of prep work.
I don’t like the texture of potatoes baked in the microwave and when I’m cooking for a crowd that doesn’t save me any time. Baking potatoes in the oven takes forever and means I have to plan ahead enough to get them ready during the busiest time of our day. The crockpot is the perfect solution. The potatoes come out with the perfect texture, it takes almost no time to throw together, and there’s barely any cleanup. You can’t lose with this one.
Ingredients
A bunch of potatoes
Salt and seasoning to taste
Preparation
Wash and scrub your potatoes. I turn this job over to my kids and they love it. Win-win. Stab each potato a few times and throw them in the crockpot.
If you are feeling ambitions you can brush each potato with oil and seasoning then wrap it in foil. I make things really easy by just throwing them all in the crockpot. The skin crisps up a bit better with foil but they cook just fine without it too.
Cook potatoes on high for 4-6 hours or low for 6-8. This will vary a bit depending on the size of your potatoes. Once they are cooked, create a simple potato bar by lining up potato toppings in front of your crockpot and letting everyone serve themselves.
Brilliant! Thank you!
