Best STEM Kits for Easter – STEM Easter Basket Ideas for Kids

STEM kits are so much fun to have on hand. They are some of my favorite gifts to give because they are great entertainment in a box options when I need to entertain my kids for a few hours.
We’ve used so many STEM activity kids as homeschoolers. These are some of our favorites.
Kiwi Co. Crates. I LOVE everything from Kiwi Co. We subscribe to 4 of their lines and my kids all get so excited when they show up on our doorstep. They have something for every age range and interest. We subscribe to the Kiwi Crate, Tinker Crate, Eureka Crate, and Doodle Crate.

Mel Chemistry Kits are a favorite at my house. Each month they sell a kit with enough supplies to do two different chemistry kits several times each. I love how hands-on they are and they really get into the science behind the experiment instead of focusing only on entertainment. The monthly Mel Science kit (You can pull the smaller kit out of the starter kit if you are just starting) comes in a great size to fit in an Easter basket too!

For kids who are into robotics, the Thames & Kosmos SolarBots: 8-in-1 Solar Robot is a great gift idea. You can build 8 different styles of robot and it is a fit for kids 6 and up.

Gardening is a great STEM activity and it can be something that kids can enjoy for weeks on end. I LOVE the Back to the Roots growing kits. They have really modernized indoor gardening with their microgreens kits and their countertop mushroom growing kit.

The Discovery Maze Planter is another fun one that allows kids to see the way that roots grow.
For kids who love movement, there are some great physics kits like the Goliath Boomtrix Xtreme Trampoline Marble Run. This one has been so much fun for my kids. We also love this Gravitrax Marble Run Starter Set for older kids and this Snap Circuits Electronics Kit.
For kids who are into chemistry, the Thames & Kosmos Ooze Labs Chemistry Station provides so many fun projects to do together, and it has a great setup.
Best STEM Kits for Easter

STEM games make great Easter gifts for kids. My kids LOVE Sum Swamp. It’s a great little addition/subtraction game that is perfect for younger kids. For older kids, PRIME CLIMB is a great option, and it’s one that even adults will enjoy. PROOF! is a great little mental math game that is the perfect size for Easter baskets.
For the littlest chess players, Story Time Chess is the cutest game that I have seen in a while. It is designed to teach very young kids (3 and up) how to play chess. I’ve been using it with my 6-year-olds, and it’s perfect for them. It teaches the moves that each piece makes with stories and mini-games and it’s currently the favorite at my house. Another great option is No Stress Chess.
Best STEM Books for Easter

There are so many AMAZING STEM books out there that there is no way we can name them all. These are just a few of our favorites:
- Counting on Katherine
- A Few Beautiful Minutes (this one has gorgeous artwork!)
- The Girl With a Mind for Math: The Story of Raye Montague
- The School of Numbers
- Copycat Science
- Math Art and Drawing Games for Kids
- Awesome Science Experiments for Kids
- What’s The Matter in Mr. Whisker’s Room
- Excellent Engineering: 35 Amazing Constructions You Can Build at Home
- Glow in the Dark: Nature’s Light Spectacular
- Pyramid
- What’s the Point of Math (This one is phenomenal)
Best Engineering Supplies for Kids
Don’t underestimate the value of creative engineering supplies for kids. My kids love creating and building. Just this week my daughter built a rocking horse out of leftover parts from an office chair. Most people have craft tables … we have an engineering table filled with materials and supplies that kids can use to create with.
Some of our favorites are:
- Low-heat glue gun
- Duct Tape
- Cardboard
- Popsicle Sticks
- Balsa wood (These are so fun to build with. They snap really easily by hand. My kids love to break them down to the exact size they need and use them to create their own architecture, doll furniture, or anything else they can think of engineering. We hold them together with hot glue.)
- Construction Paper
- Large roll of kraft paper– This is perfect for tracing kids and creating anatomy models or any other larger craft projects.

We hope that these STEM Easter gift ideas help give you some ideas to put together an amazing and educational Easter basket this year.
